G**K
Its a sponge no doubt.
UPDATE: It uses about 8-10 KW/day. Cost about $1.50/day to run @ $0.15/KW. Set at 40% which is probably overkill. I let it run for a week. Used a sliver under 70KW's. I just checked it yesterday and the Kill A Watt said 700 hours, 240 KWS. This works out to be about 8.2 KWS/day. (240KW/700hrs.) x 24 hours. Keeping in mind that I would find it full and off quite a few times and thus I believe the 10KW/day is more accurate if I would have been using a hose so that it never shut off.Its a sponge no doubt. My new (old) home had a literally 25 yr old, but working, dehumidifier left in it. Old one worked and quickly let me know I needed one. So I bought this one assuming it would be MUCH more effecient. IT IS! Its a 70 pt. and I have to empty it twice a day. I will get hose attachment soon. My Kill-O-Watt meter says it draws about 570 watts (+- about 5-10 watts) when compressor is running. I have seen it as low as 560 and as high as 580watts. When compressor is not running it draws about 50 watts. I keep mine set at 40% humidity. The reality is its all about water per killowatt. This one turned out to pull at least four times more water then the old one while only using at most 50% more wattage when the compressor was running. I have reset my kill-o-watt meter and will report in a few days how much juice it has drawn over so many days left running full time. Stay tuned for full report.
