Worth it.
I’m a gym owner and a certified personal trainer. I’ve ordered 4 of these books.I like them because you don’t have to be a trainer to know what you’re looking for. It is easy to explain to clients. I recently ordered another one for my mom.Trigger points, if done correctly are a life saver. $5 lacrosse ball and a $13 book can change your life. I highly recommend. Especially for beginners.

Kindle is user friendly
This is the second book I’ve read on this topic. I did think the book by Davies was more comprehensive especially about the head and jaw.But I liked this book better for its step by step approach. The author gives a picture of where it hurts, a description of the same, what could cause the pain and what the pain could feel like. Then he gives where to treat the muscles in the spine, how to treat the nerve, how to treat the trigger points, then done gentle moves to do and other muscles to treat. The kindle has links to all these other places in the book so you can quickly go there. Then just use the back button to return. It’s very user friendly.

A process, fairly simple to understand, not something to be done for you
I got this book to read to learn how to help myself with my own pain. I have chronic illness and am in a very debilitated state with pain and fatigue due to chronic tick borne infections. I found the instructions mostly very easy to understand with labels, large fonts, and information about different techniques. I felt the illustrations were helpful but not completely easy to follow and match up with your own body anatomically. I am a registered nurse still licensed and I still was unsure about some things. Each area on the body listed had a process of movements and pressure to be applied, more than expected. If you get used to doing it I'm sure it would be a lot quicker an easier to memorize. Sometimes the directions weren't completely clear, like sometimes it didn't specify which side of the body to be moving. I follow the directions and find tender points right where the book says it should be for where my pain is located, but I have felt no bumps, knots, or bb's, just extra pain. These exercises were really hard for me to complete. It isn't something someone can read and do for you, you have to be an active participant. It didn't help me (yet) for instance- I did the exercise for lower back/sacral pain and really stirred up my neck pain because it was really hard for me to sit and lean like I was supposed to and my neck was wore out, so after I was finished I went on the the neck pain area and by the time I was finished my lower back was hurting worse than before I started and simple exercises like holding my fist out parallel to the ground is exhausting for my arm. Afterward I was in worse pain in some areas, not improved anywhere else, and was spent from doing the tasks. I know that my pain isn't from an injury, or pulling something, or from repetition but I hoped it would help me. It may be something that you need more practice with to perfect. I just have such overwhelming fatigue that makes my pain worse when I do any simple task and I think I would need someone helping me to benefit if I even can benefit with my root causes. I suggest you do your research and if you have interest to give it a try and practice, especially if you have some other pain origins that I mentioned above. Most people aren't couch bound and as complicated, my pain is all over, so it may be more useful to others.

Richard REALLY knows his STUFF!
First of all, if you are local or can get around him when he travels, YOU NEED TO DO IT! Love the Four PLUS decades of knowledge and experience that he has. Also the fact that he's continually still learning and keeping up to date with the changes in things. He's always coming up with new tricks and tips based on his experience and what his patients need. Buy this book and keep an eye out for numbers two and three. :)
