So far, so good....update
...update...Had it now almost 4 months. On 1 of the edges, there is a slight separation where the pieces are glued together. Main thing on any board is to keep it well oiled. I wash and dry the board immediately after use, and oil well once/month now. If you are not willing to do frequent oiling, do not buy a wood board. They are great, but need to be oiled regularly or they will separate with time. I love the heavy weight of the board. I have very sharp Japanese knives, they are not cutting up the board at all.Only had it about a month, but so far so good. Nice and thick. This board 1 1/4" thick, the board it replaced eventually warped, it was only 3/4 thick. So worth the extra money to get a thick heavy board that will not move around when cutting. The main thing about any cutting board is to oil it regularly. When you order the board, be sure to order "Block Oil." I like this for regular maintenance of the board. I have tried others, like this oil the best. How often to oil? One brand I saw recommended once/day for the first week...once week for the first month...then once month. This is what I did with this board. However, since the board brand new and of course dry, for the first 7 days I oiled with plain pure mineral oil since you can buy in any drug store for a cheap price. After that, starting using the "Block Oil." Block Oil - Non Toxic Bamboo and Wood Oil Finish (Natural) This oil hard to find in the stores so recommend you buy it from Amazon same time as the board. We have very sharp Japanese knives, the board is holding up to them. This board on the Test Kitchen recommended list. Worth it so far. Bought this size as it fits nicely in our kitchen cabinet drawer. Block Oil - Non Toxic Bamboo and Wood Oil Finish (Natural)

Very functional!
I love these boards. I had the very large one with a carving drain, and gave it to my son because it’s 75. It was too heavy to lift and got the smaller 10 x 10 which is great for the chop. I do want a daily basis.! Very sturdy boards!

Product cracks after 3 mo of use1
The board is excellent in thickness and was perfect in all dimensions as i expected. After 3 mo of use, I saw cracks showing up. This was very disappointing as it was a Christmas gift for my Son-In-Law who is a professional Shef.

3 months in and already cracked, bent, and stained.
The media could not be loaded. Horrible board. Barely used and already showing signs of wear and tear.

Very Disappointed
Very disappointed in the finishing of this board. I can see why people rate it poorly. I was skeptical when reading others' reviews as I figured they were anomalies but the board that I received today absolutely does not live up to the quality that one would expect from a John Boos board. This board is quite rough on both cutting surfaces and is very rough on all edges, with one edge even looking like it hasn't been sanded down at all. Parts of the cutting surfaces haven't been treated with the "mystery oil", or they're just so rough that the oil couldn't penetrate properly, as well there are little soft splinters sticking out. Truthfully I could go to The Home Depot, buy a beautiful piece of untreated maple, sand it down and finish it with a good quality Walnut oil and it would be better than this one. Of course I could always sand this one down and oil it but I should not have to on day 1! I rarely write poor reviews but this product definitely deserved one. It's a piece of unfinished wood with a nice name on it. Go to HomeSense or Winners and buy a block there, it will undoubtedly be finished better.
