It’s sharp!
This knife is sharp. Great lines and the edges of the blade are fantastic. The point is needle sharp. The quillon or cross guard could be longer but it’s adequate. If you stab something and hit a bone, your hand could slip and you’d get a nasty cut in your hand if you aren’t gripping it really tightly. It has good weight and the grip is a little aggressive but not enough to really complain about. That aggressiveness is needed to prevent hand slipping down to the blade. I’m impressed. The cutting edges are not razor sharp but it can shave hair off your arm. It appears to be built as a fighting knife/dagger. Main use would be stabbing. That won’t be a problem. I have no need to stab anything but nice to have a tool and not need it than needing it and not having it. Scabbard is very adequate too. Overall I’m highly satisfied with this purchase.

Not a field knife
This is not a field knife, or a hunting knife, or a utility knife, or a bush craft knife. If you are caught carrying this knife illegally (check your local laws) you will have a hard time arguing you were doing anything innocent. This is a knife designed to be used to stab things, and it shows in it's design. The "leaf blade" shape makes the edge impractical for any sort of bushcraft work, and while the weight would make it a decent chopping knife, the shape of the blade, again, is not designed for that sort of work.Other then that, there is not a lot to be said about it, that the picture wont show you. It's a solid hunk of steel, pointy and sharp. Mine came with an edge geometry and sharpness appropriate for intended use and price point. The sheath holds the knife securely, and the only time I could make it rattle was when I shook it like a maraca. The gray coating on the metal portions of the knife seems reasonably durable, but I wouldn't expect it to hold up after repeated use. Again, however, this isn't a repeated use field knife. If you are looking for a "cool looking" knife for everyday use or for use while camping, etc. look elsewhere. If you are looking for a knife designed to stab into objects, this is a good choice for the price.

Functional, but very blemished.
Metal and temper appear on point. Thick and stout, sheath is robust. Grinds are terrible, but not bad enough to affect function. I think I'll buy from the Cold Steel website, next time, as I've heard others say they received factory defects, like this, through Amazon sellers.

I like this more than the MK 2 I carried almost 30 yrs ago!
I still own the MK 2 which I carried way back then and its still in great shape after MUCH use and service. I would point out that my MK 2 is over 7 " long while the new ones are only 6".As for the WASP, Ive had NONE of the issues that others have had. Mine came razor sharp and still is with just a little whetting. Its almost perfectly balanced at the guard, where it should be. I love the handle-scales, which are so grippy its actually difficult to drop, even when wet or muddy. Honestly, I beat the hell out of it- threw it into and chopped seasoned knotty pine. Threw it into dirt and drywall with only the teflon coating a little worse for wear, and that only slightly. I also love cold steels secure - ex sheaths;, here is no different.I have 13 Cold Steel knives and have had others, so I belive these reviewers and their problems- Ive had issues with 4 of their knives so I called their customer support, told them the problem, they apologised, I sent in the old knife and they sent me an inspected new one. This costs 5 $ for shipping. Sure its a pain, but its worth it to have a great knife, and Cold Steel makes many. I also have 7 of their various machetes, and they are among the best on the market. So , if you have an issue, call them and they'll take care it. And as for the Wasp, its one hell of a knife, and, lets face it, its a fighting knife like the MK 2 and they're made for self defense and offense, not for chopping.

This is for fighting not camping
This knife is a stabber, made for combat or self defense nothing more. If you're looking for something that doubles as a utility/camping knife then this isn't for you. If you're looking for an anti-personel weapon with a tip that won't break when used,, then this is for you. It has a very thick profile that for a double edge knife makes the tip virtually indestructible. The downside is that it won't take a razor edge but can still somewhat cut. If the blade is grabbed it will cut the hand that grips it. The sheath is pretty low profile with enough wiggle room that when the blade is drawn one doesn't need to worry about the kydex dulling the edge and yet still has no rattle when sheathed. It fits great in the hand with no sharp areas that will bite you when used. If you want a fighter, then this is for you.

This thing is big
A bit unwieldy, balance is fair, handle scales are grippy but a bit thin. Wrapped the handle with Paracord & is now a good fit for my hands. Very sharp & sturdy .

Wrong color, uneven tip grind.
Wrong color knife, listing said black. Color received was a grey color knife. Also grind on tip was way off centered. Very uneven grind.
