Gootium Canvas Messenger Bag - Vintage Cross Body Shoulder Satchel

I love this bag! I got it last minute for my international trip. I was eager to get this bag as I can hold lots of travel items in it, including my laptop, ipad, etc. I was skeptical after reading some negative reviews about quality. Well I'm lucky to say my experience was the latter to the negatives. Item came in great condition and material looks and feel like HIGH quality. I have gotten so many compliments how nice it looks also. It's been a few months that I have it, and it is still going strong. I do not carry around a lot of heavy things in it just my daily operational needs at work and travel, I would say max weight I carry is less than 8lbs and the bag is holding up well, still looks like the day I bought it. This is a HEAVY duty canvas bag with large capacity. The stated weight is 2.1 pounds which needs consideration when traveling internationally or walking long distances. Only if the bag is fully packed is the weight/item small. For laptops and related items or for casual travel this is not a reasonable choice from the plethora of options on Amazon. Modern materials can provide the same wearability and capacity and are more compact. One does not fully consider this until it is put to use when traversing airports, stuffing it in overhead bins in long-haul aircraft or traveling to meetings getting in and out of public transport.

This canvas and brass bag has high quality construction and heavy duty material. It holds a really surprising volume of stuff in numerous pockets and flaps, some zippered some worth Velcro colsures an best of all there are no straps with buckles or strings to fight or get hung up on things. The color is unobtrusive and neutral. It's appearance will only improve with wear and age. It is comfortable to wear leaving both hands free. It might be nice if one of the side pockets could accomadte a small beverage botlle?

Absolutely great bag! I highly recommend and I am so happy with it. All of the route positive reviews are dead on. It is very sturdy, lots of room but not too big, and large pockets as well as small pockets. I am a big and tall woman and I have been searching all over for a messenger type bag that could fit around me as well as my height. I also hate bags that fall off of your shoulder easily, especially when you're trying to carry groceries into your house and things like that. The fabric that the shoulder strap is made of makes it so the strap doesn't slip at all. This bag is just perfect and it has that military look that I like very much. Some of the other bags were in the $20 range, but I figured it was worth the extra cash to have something sturdy. Pictures of the other canvas messenger bags showed signs of falling apart very early, stitching coming loose, etc. I do not foresee that happening with this bag. Well that's my two cents 🤑😘

TL;DR: Very good daily bag, not waterproof, not for laptops (without added protection).I picked up this bag to use on a trip, and it's become my daily commuter bag. It has room for my cables, chargers, etc.It seems well built; the canvas seems though enough to withstand normal wear, and the interior is lined with a softer material. The zippered pocket on the flap is very convenient to store frequently-used items.It does have room to occasionally carry my 15" macbook pro, but be aware that the bag has no padding, so use a neoprene sleeve or so for added protection. It will be a little tight, but it does fit.It's not water-repellent, but you can use some canvas wax if you need it to be. It got a little wet the few times it rained while I was carrying it, but the items in it were just fine.Overall, I'm very pleased with the bag, and probably would buy another one if I lost or damaged it.

I'm a stickler when it comes to messenger bags since I'm always on the look for that perfect one to turn into a stealthy camera bag. The color is a bit more green than I liked, so I just bleached the hell out of it and gave it a more distressed look. The bleach did not work on the strap so I was left with a two colored bag. I didn't care. I tried to trash it. I stepped on it. Dragged it on the concrete. Ran it through the dryer a few times. Then repeated this process to stress it out and annoyingly (for me), it stayed in pretty damn good shape. Took it on a 4 month trip and it didn't really change all that much. Surprisingly a lot more than on the inside than it looks, which was great for putting more things in, but of course it then became bloated looking. Inner pocket was nice. The side pockets were pretty useless since they were too small for me to put much more than a small battery or a short pen.

This bag is perfect to carry to and from work with electronics, office supplies, etc... It is a little floppy and doesn't hold its shape well without things in it, but that doesn't bother me. I expected this because it is a canvas bag. It is plenty large enough for a 15.6 laptop. I am 6'1" tall and the strap is plenty long enough for the bag to hang below my waist when wearing as a messenger bag.There is no padding in the compartments but as long as you aren't just throwing the bag around your stuff should be fine. It is plenty large enough for a student to carry a laptop and a couple of books with supplies. It even has a zipper pocket next to your body for your phone.The only complaint I would have about this bag is that the end pockets aren't really large enough for a bottle of water, but they work perfect for a deck of cards. Though if they were any larger, they would be bulky.

Ordered this bag to replace my husband’s old bag because the zipper was coming loose. He commented on how much nicer this bag was than his old one. It has a rugged look, yet the material and zipper appear very heavy and strong. It has tons of pockets. The army green more of is a greenish/brown color. Great quality bag.

Im not sure about all the other reviewers but immediately I have lots of deal breaking problems with this bag. Immediately you notice its *very* heavy. Literally heavier than my contents. If like me you've paid a premium to have a really portable laptop this will weigh more. The zip across the top is infuriatingly badly done, it makes it near impossible to easily get a 12" laptop in and out! That's madness. A primary function of a bag is getting your stuff in and out. The little pockets on the side which are quite nicely done with magnetic buttons... are almost decoratively pointless. I have tiny hands and I cant even get my keys in and out of them without hassle, they aren't big enough around or by depth to get a water bottle in. Further to the zip being annoying, it doesn't actually secure or seal the bag interior to the edge. Instead it secures two flaps together to just clasp it closed. With the main covering flap *not* covering these holes at the two ends near the strap this is a very non-waterproof bag. I live in the UK this thing is going to destroy all of my electronics inside come winter, and its a rainy summer right now. My previous £5 ex army stores canvas satchel that didn't even have a zip but was waterproofed canvas was more practical than this. I hoped to upgrade. The positives are the zips other than their utility are of a reasonable quality as are all the materials, the weight is almost certainly because of double lining and the use of reinforcing canvas straps. I'm still debating if its actually going to outlast my previous canvas bag which ultimately did wear away. So perhaps the weight is the price you pay for durability in canvas at least. The look of the bag is also good and it sits quite well on the back. Given the weight it does have a wide strap so its comfortable over the shoulder. But the raw utility of the thing and how it really is insanely annoying getting a laptop in and out makes me just not want to use this.

I'll keep this brief. I paid £31:49 for the bag. No discount or incentive to write a review. I needed a bag to replace my old bag for my holiday.I'm very pleased with the bag. It is well made from thick canvass & webbing. It is really strong. The main compartment is zipped with a strong zip & there is a zipped pocket outside at the back, ideal for a passport. I've used it every day since purchase & I anticipate that it will provide many years service. The zipped compartment in the flap is good for travel documents of A4 but better for A5. The bag is fully lined with a cotton type material with another zipped pocket inside. I would buy again if it ever got lost or stolen

You know when you get something new, trainers, a coat, or even a new bag, somehow it's great in everyway, but it's just not as comfortable as the old one. You know you needed to change, or perhaps the last one has finally given up and died an honourable death, but as nice as it is, the new one just isn't the same.This bag doesn't do that. It's soft, it bends, the edges are a little curled, it feels as if you've owned it for 20 years and it's attuned to your body. I use mine for work. I take my lunch in a cool bag as well as a 500ml steel bottle and a 1000ml steel bottle. I also have keys, wallet, headphones, charger and cables, pens, packets of tablets for any occasion and some glove. I still have 4 pockets spare!If you're looking for a bad that's well made but appears to be older than you, is big enough to use for work or college, and is so soft and comfortable you hardly notice you have it on, then this is the one for you. I have the army green version and I love it.

Great laptop carry canvas bag. This army green sturdy canvas bag is comfortable to wear with adjustable shoulder strap. There is a large internal zipped space that easily fits my 11 inch laptop. There is an internal zipped pocket for high security of documents like passports or credit cards.As well as the large zipped space there is a zipped smaller pocket on the front, a couple of small snap shut pockets on the side and front and another passport sized zipped pocket on the back.

I love the style of this bag, it's just what I was looking for. I went for 'Army Green' but it actually looks more brown to me. It appears to be good quality and well made. If you're veggie or vegan be aware it has leather zip pulls and a couple of leather decorative patches, so bear in mind if this is important to you. Some reviews mention this is a heavy bag, but it doesn't feel particularly heavy to me and it's no different to my previous bag. I did see a review that mentions the naff side pockets and I have to agree - they're really too small to be of any use and I haven't found anything that actually fits in them yet! Overall a well made and stylish bag.
