Q: Is there a difference between the white version and the black version ?

I don’t think so. I like the white.

Q: Why doesn’t this come with a charging cord? It is literally a charger!!!

Perhaps to keep cost down? It doesn’t matter since I use the charging cord that comes with the Dot3. We love it. We take it out in our backyard, we have a acre bone, and it works perfectly. Buy it.

Q: The speaker was working. Now it isn’t. Have checked all the power cords to the echo. The echo dot will work when not in the speaker unit.

It appears that the 2 cables within the D7 speaker that plug into the Echo Dot are either not plugged in correctly and may be reversed or not plugged in snuggly to the Echo Dot,... or they now have been frayed or bad in some other way and need a closer look and fix....there are no other plausible explanations..good luck..Since the Dot works by itself, its obviously the connection from the D7 speaker that is the problem..
