Lime CrimeVelvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick - Squash

Professional Makeup Artist Review
My Lime Crime lip color was used on a photoshoot for a national hair and makeup competition called the North American Hairstyling Awards (or NAHA for short!). The color was opaque, and the perfect velvet matte finish, applied easily, smelled amazing, and lasted through some intense shooting! I was hard pressed to find a high quality product in such a wide variety in colors, as this called for a very specific shade of orange! It more than passed the test! Their products will definitely be in my kit from now on!

Was hoping it would be the beautiful bold color on the swatch but it is a little different. Goes on really dark then lightens once it dries. Not a super smooth look, the lines in my lips do appear after a little bit. Not irritating, only have to reapply after a huge meal with lots of drinks. Still pretty, just wish it was brighter and smooth.

Squash
I'm disappointed. Lime Crime has so much hype behind it, and this sucked. I bought the color Squash, because orange tones go well with my skin, so it seemed like a good idea. How wrong I was... It looks awful, it's difficult to apply, it rubs off any time you take a drink... It's just bad. I've bought $3 liquid lipsticks that looked better than this. And if you have ANY cracks in your lips, prepare to feel like an old woman with the way this makes you look. So, all in all, no. The only nice think is the tube it comes in.

Patchy, streaky, just horrible! Own a lot of makeup so only got to try it now or else I would've returned when I could've. Ugh!

ANOTHER GREAT LIQUID LIPSTICK OPTION!
So recently I, like millions of other makeup junkies, have been going through a huge liquid lipstick phase in my life. I wanna try 'em all, so ordering some Lime Crime Velvetines was definitely a must. I ordered Squash and Faded, and overall I'm pleased. There are pro's and con's when compared to other brands I've used, especially the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid lippies. Both KVD and LC smell and taste like sweet buttercream frosting, and both feel like an oil-based icing when applied on the lip. I find LC to be thinner, which means it dries a lot faster for me. Also, the KVD's can be a little patchy so I have to reapply in certain spots a few times, whereas the LC's were more opaque and required less touch ups. They both last hours on my lips (almost 6 hours looking perfect!) but the LC also stays put while eating or drinking (usually the KVD's fade in the center of my lips while eating). I do, however, prefer the packaging of KVD and you also get more product (.22 oz with KVD, .1 oz with LC). Also, LC's colors dry down to look surprisingly subtle and wearable, which can definitely be a good thing...but sometimes I want to stand out and that's where the KVD's bright, paint-like shades really shine. Basically, I love both brands and highly recommend them for $20 each!

I got this in Squash. Lasts a long time but color is pretty unflattering. I have to mix it with a brick red to make the color appear flattering. However, it is a pretty good base. Lasts a long time so that's nice---I just really don't like the texture, but I imagine that is just the nature of liquid lipsticks. I will stick to lipsticks that come out of a tube from now on.

Loving the Lime
Really, really great formula. This was my first Lime Crime purchase and I will definitely be buying more colors!! Very rich, pure color too. It's actually very wearable!!
