I like that I was able to replace the original piece. But respectfully 8.99 for something that probably cost .50 to make is ridiculous.

For those who use the fujimoto valve this little fella works great.

Needed this for a Fumoto valve I put on a car 2 years ago. While I trust the ball valve not to open on its own from just vibration, sometimes I have to drive over vegetation high enough for concern. I used a zip tie to keep the valve tab from being able to slip into its rotation groove, which of course means I had to cut it off at each oil change, which in turn meant taking one more tool under the car with me. I recently installed a newer Fumoto valve on my truck, and the safety clip was included with the valve this time. Glad Amazon made this available at a price I could stomach, even if grudgingly so. It seems like the sort of thing that should run about $5 for a 3-pack at most. At $3/each, I'll probably go back to zip ties if these get lost or broken.

Did my first oil change and sure enough the little black safety clip bounced away and fell into another dimension never to be seen again. I recommend keeping at least one extra on hand for those moments. Now I don't have to worry about a twig or something hitting the drain lever and loosing all my oil.

Shipping costs more than the part itself. Item ships direct from the manufacturer so it doesn't get included in free shipping. It's a tiny piece of plastic that may do a good job but I can see it getting easily misplaced. Here in Nevada plastic, especially black plastic, doesn't hold up well to the heat, heat coming off scorching hot asphalt at that. I bought this as an added safety measure but I don't hold out much hope for my buying another one, ever. I'm going to try and safety tie it to the valve to at least keep it close encase it falls off and so that it can't wander away during an oil change.Update 03/08/17: It has not fallen off my F350 in the last 5,200 miles. I have driven in rain, snow, off road, and in Las Vegas 115 degree heat. It is still there and when I changed oil today it popped off and back on just as if it were new.

If your ordering it with a new valve as I did you are probably getting one with the valve even though the ad doesn't say you are. Definitely stops the valve from being accidentally opened. In my case the valve sits high enough out of the way on a GMC 3500 I wouldn't need it but I use it anyway as it's and easy on and off insurance against loss of oit.

Protects the Fumoto Valve from opening accidentally. I wonder if they could make this in a more sturdy material. I almost broke it trying to get it off the last oil change. But it does the job.-1 star because the shipping cost is more than the clip. Throw it in an envelope and mail it first class.
