Brilliant!
This is an amazing piece of kit and it ticks all the boxes for me. Initially It was a toss up between the Sawyer mini and the Drinksafe Travel tap bottle however i realised that for where im going (South East Asia) ill not only need a filter but a purifier which takes care of any of the nasty viruses, and upon researching more and more about Drinksafe products on their website i noticed that fresh for 2020 they have brought out a folding version!.It weighs only 110 grams. It folds down when not in use.You can either suck on it or gently squeeze to quench your thirst or flush out wounds or even fill other bottles etc..Its so well made, you can see and feel the quality of every component. Ive shaken this folding version upside down and everything and it does not leak.. You have to squeeze the lid with your thumb and forefinger like as if youre opening a child safe container and then the nozzle slips in the hole water tight. It carries almost a litre, so for me thats enough until the next refil.. and you can always pour into another bottle etc...It uses 2 a filter system, for more info go onto their website but the short of it is that it allows you to drink taint free safe water anywhere around the world. To keep it working correctly and for the lifetime expectancy of the product there are some guidelines and some basic periodic maintenance to follow however the instructions are incredibly easy to follow and there are plenty of pictures in order to familiarise yourself with it.This folding version comes with an insulated carrier bag that keeps cold water cold and from freezing if taken to cold climates and you can drink from it inside the carrier bag which also comes with a lanyard which you can shorten or lengthen so you can carry it hands free. You can also close the top of the carrier bag as it has an elasticated pull cord. Also, the top uses a type of clip so you can attach it the side of your backpack for example. You can even use the folding bottle as a cold compress if you have sprained your ankle for example. If you find a clean source of water you can remove the filter and stow it in its own zip lock bag. And it comes with a protective sleeve for the filter when not in use. This filter can also be used as a type of swab to clean the inside of the bag.Im not too sure what else to say about this product.. You can see the amount of work that has gone into it. Its so comprehensively made and it feels so robust and practical. However, above everything that i have mentioned its given me the confidence to go backpacking all round SEA drinking free tasty contaminant virus parasite free water without leaving trail of plastic behind me.. Incredible stuff from Giles and his team at DrinkSafe!!!!! :)Ive also read that their customer services is excellent and i agree.. So If youre going anywhere where there are viruses too, like SEA and Africa then this defintely the product, however if its North America or Europe etc then i suppose the Sawyer mini which only uses a 1 stage filter system will be absolutely fine..

No regrets - amazing purchase
This travel tap folding water is super convienent and easy to use. It can fold up ridiculously small when not in use, is super easy to carry around and purifies water amazing. I would 100% recommend to anyone looking to travel and for those wanting to cut down on plastic bottle usage.

I could have done something wrong, but painfully slow output of water.
Just came back from a wild camp in the mountains of Wales, and cannot recommend this product. The flow of water was so limited (if anything at all) that it was just not viable. Having followed the simple instructions, and much squeezing, sucking, checking the filter(s), refilling, repeating the process for about an hour, I still only got a slight trickle of water, even my mate tried with the same results, so gave up. Lucky, I had pury-tabs and my mate had a different water filter system onboard so we could replenish. Being both ex forces (so have a bit of experience), we just wouldn’t work out the issue in the field, maybe a defective filter, or we missed some little hidden detail, but again considering this is supposed to be a bit of key survival kit, the process should be simple and effective, as the instructions suggest.I’m sure if you’re lost in some far-off jungle or something this may indeed be a life saver based on the claimed levels of filtration, but for wild camping in the UK, high up, taking water from flowing water sources to fill your bottle, it just didn’t work effectively for me, which is a shame because it is a well presented bit of kit, and the company looks good (hence the two stars).

Good balance of features
I had a long look at water filters for hiking in the Scottish Highlands before choosing this one. I wanted something with a reasonable price, reasonably light and to err on the paranoid side with regard to what it would deal with. This thing couples an initial filter to get rid of bacteria/parasites/particles with a carbon filter which can deal with some chemicals and give you a better taste if e.g. drinking peaty water. For good luck I chuck in a chlorine tablet to the stream water before filtering to get viruses which are too small for the initial filter, the nice thing is the carbon stage takes the chlorine back out so no nasty taste. It's not fast because of the two stage filter and maybe it is overkill but the only way you're going to find that out is by risking getting the runs or worse. If you use a filter to avoid carrying a lot of water you can easily get in a situation where you're dehydrated and can't be too choosy about the water source. So better safe than sorry in my view.

It's like milking a cow!
I like the idea that the water I drink from this is pure, but surely there's a better and easier way of getting purified water? I'm afraid that the more I squeeze the bag, the likelier it is to wear it out and eventually the bag will break. Moreover, when I do squeeze it, I get, at best, a trickle which is frustrating. No doubt this is why the suggestion was made of squeezing the water into a separate bottle. There is always a bit of water left in the bag which is also frustrating.I have yet to try the actual bottle version, but if this bag is anything to go by, it won't be any better.

Brilliant piece of kit.
Bought this to filter water on a trip to Cuba where there had been suggestions the water bottles in the room might be the source of stomach upsets. Loved the cool bag which made it ideal for a trip to the beach. Neither of us got ill so ill declare it a success. Will also be useful for the upcoming apocalypse.

A must have for wild camping
I bring two separate water filters when I go wild camping. The sawyer mini and the aquapure traveler. But the drinksafe travel tap does the same job as my two other filters. The insulated pouch should hopefully stop it from freezing 🤞
