Sturdy
A little confusing putting it together. We've had it outside for a full year and are very happy with it.

Okayiest Deck Box, Better than Most
This item was easy to assemble and matches our Ikea outdoor furniture. It looks good, the stain was uneven, so we applied an aftermarket sealer. To apply, we gently sanded the finish, wiped debris away, and sealed it with a waterproof protectant in natural cedar. The finish deepened and is looking fresh after a season of sun and light rain. The deck box timeless design makes the series easy to place and suitable for many different environments. The furniture has been pre-treated (and now post-treated) to be better protected against sun, rain, stains and other wear and tear. I would say the item s priced a bit high, and the opening and closing hardware is stiff to use. Overall I am pleased and would purchase again at a more fair price. Thank you for your time.

Sturdy, wooden box that is easy to assemble and lives up to its weight rating.
Got it to be a firewood box for keeping the next few pieces handy. It's about the right size for that. So far nothing has broken when dumping an armload of wood into it. Do note that the bottom is a set of slats that are like 20% open. So small items will definitely fall out if you don't add something to it. But the cardboard box it comes in works nicely for that.Assembly wasn't terrible. The hinge screws were just lightly marked with no significant pre-drilling, so you'll need decent lighting to be able to spot where they go and get them lined up correctly. Other than that all the pieces went together with no hassle.

Works ok for the price.
I purchased this wooden deck box to replace a resin unit on my deck. For $75 it's not bad. The box itself assembled fine. Did not take too long to assemble. I was not certain how well it would hold up in the weather so I applied a coat of teak oil to all of the surfaces. I agree with all of the reviews about the negative comments on the supplied hinges and that the assembly instructions could be better. I suspect these hinges are also used for the longer heavier deck boxes offered but for this small unit it is overkill. I did not bother trying to install the supplied hinges because they were stiff and risked pinching when trying to install. So I purchased separately a 1-1/2 x 12" long piano hinge and installed it on the back. Then I used a couple of screws from the hinges and installed a tether on the lid and the other end attached to the box. It works fine and easy to replace. Knowing now what to expect with this box I think I would buy it again if it lasts a few years.

Endless problems
I see a lot of reviews on here, saying that the product was easy to assemble. It was not easy for me to assemble. There were many issues first of all the instructions might as well not exist. They offer no help whatsoever. Secondly, some of the bolts were damaged and couldn’t be used so I had to invent new ways of putting it together. The screws for attaching the hinges were really cheap screws that stripped almost immediately. There’s a spring on one of the hinges that is so tight that a weightlifter couldn’t open it. They give you a little plastic tool to change the tension on the spring. This doesn’t work at all. I ended up taking bolt cutters and cutting the spring off. The unit doesn’t really need a spring. The hinges are so tight that the lid stays open on its own and closes easily. So I’m not sure what the spring is supposed to add to the unit. The instructions say you need two people to assemble. This is true and it is ridiculous that you need to people to assemble such a small little unit. The reason you need two people is there are some nuts that insert into large holes that you then screw bolts into. I was with a lot of difficulty able to assemble the unit by myself. But instead of 20 minutes like they say it took almost 2 hours. A lot of that time we spent finding new bolts and screws that I could use since the ones provided did not work.. But the holes for the nuts are so loose but every time you try to start screwing in the bolts they move. So it’s kind of like a game. Trying to figure out how to get the nut to stay. Still long enough to screw in the screw. I did get the item assembled and I am using it. It looks nice. But my experience has been so bad. I can’t give it more than one star.

"20 minute assembly" is a joke
Assembling the four sides was a no-brainer. BUT... The hinge system for the lid is terrible. 1) The placement of these scissor-type hinges is critical to making the lid work. There are no pilot holes so it is a game of trial and error. 2) The instructions don't describe anything to guide you. 3) The picture in the instructions is wrong, it does NOT get placed at the edge of top trim piece like the picture shows.Lastly the hinges themselves are terrible quality. The spring is useless, remove it. They are so stiff I thought I was going to rip the screws out of the wood just trying to open or close the lid. The product looks good except for some reason the packaging foam was "glued" to the wood on one side. I'll need a sander to get white foam off of the wood. Also the packet of hardware screws was broken open and loose screws were all over the inside of the box. Have patience and tolerance if you want to attempt to buy this product.

Great, sturdy deck box!
I have a propane tank on my deck in the corner which feeds my firepit. The deck builder put a basic box over it that I had to completely pick up and move aside each time I wanted to light or extinguish the fire. Not a big deal but annoying. I wanted something nicer with a hinged lid so I could more easily access the gas valve. This box is beautiful and very sturdy! I put it together leaving off the bottom so it fits nicely over the gas tank, and the lid opens and closes for each use. Perfect and doubles as an extra seat when needed!
