Really a great book, I believe physically well made and the photos well curated. And a well-written synopsis of his life and work put it all into perspective. It's always interesting to read about the more work-a-day photographers and not just those in the public's top tier. He made moving and artistic images under time and budget constraints, clearly an underrated man.

I am so glad to meet the photographer, George Alexander Grant !
There is something wonderful about holding an actual gorgeous book like this in one's hands and looking at the remarkable photos - I have a much better appreciation for what it took to bring about our Nation's greatest treasure : OUR NATIONAL PARKS.Thank you, Ren and Helen Davis, for researching and bringing to light the remarkable work of the great photographer, George Alexander Grant.Ansel Adams gave us astoundingly artistic visions of the landscape, Grant's life-long work now has enlightened me to the relationship of our great Land to the People.

A photographer who deserves more recognition.
A very interesting biography of a little-known photographic artist (though he would have called himself a craftsman). Grant's life story is sympathetically written, and the large gallery of photographs contains many of spectacular beauty. Hope more photos are published in the near future!

A View With A Vision
This is a very good book that describes many of our National Parks.Black and white photos all of which are historic and tell the story of the parks quite well.We bought it as a gift for a good friend who cannot get to the parks very well. Alexander was sentout to make this large collection of images.Jeff

Simply beautiful
The Davis s have brought to life George Grant, by letting his photographs tell the story of his work as official photographer for the National Park Service. Each page turned is met with an, " Oh Wow" as the black and white images stop my breathing for a moment. To me, the bonus is knowing the authors have connected with Grant's nieces-finding and dedicating the book to them.

I was pretty impressed with this book
I was pretty impressed with this book, and wish the Park Service would release others like it. George Alexander had a good eye for photographs, and it shows. A nice addition to my collection.
