Val Kilmer NAILS it in this movie!!!
How did I not ever see this movie before??? I was a 60s hippie myself, and this movie brought back memories of my senior year in high school and my foray into college. I absolutely loved this film! What an excellent portrayal of Jim Morrison this was. I have to agree with the experts that say Val Kilmer was born for this role.

Val Kilmer channeled Jim Morrison
To express our appreciation for Val Kilmer, we watched his masterful skills as an actor portray Jim Morrison. This movie rocks for many reasons, but Val really channeled Jim via method acting.

Well worth buying the 4K upgrade
If nothing else than for the improved quality of the dazzling 7.1 surround sound, the 4K upgrade is well worth the purchase price. The more detailed 4K gives greater depth and vibrancy, particularly when projected onto my 120" wall screen. It's immersive and gripping. Having lived through the 60's, it's been a while since I first saw this film, which captures a dark vision all too true. So interesting to again see it upgraded after all these years. The genius of the music was definitely wrapped up in a heavy rock-weighted coat of casual sex, psychedelic drugs, and hard drug addiction. The "flower child" generation of innocent peace and love (reacting to societal upheaval, assassination, and prolonged war) devolving into lives cut short or damaged by escapism drug usage of all types (hard drugs, alcohol, and tobacco) was captured by Jim's short life. The new interview with Oliver Stone was very interesting in laying out the basis to his unforgiving depiction and consolidation of characters and incidences. Again, as a person who lived through that turbulent period, I found it compelling, truthful to the thrust of the times, deeply saddening, and profoundly inspiring. As a longtime fan of the Doors, I say Bravo!
