Best 5 Gallon Bucket $20 can buy. Worth the extra $.
Great product, truly the best 5 gallon bucket I've ever owned. It's quite expensive but it's very true... you get what you pay for and this is no exception. I bought a 5 gallon bucket from my local Lowes hardware store for around $8 including the lid and you can totally tell the difference. The cheaper one has a noticeably thinner plastic for the bucket and lid. The better one from living whole foods is truly the thickest your going to get, it feels very solid and works great. There is also a better handle on it than the cheaper Lowes one. The lid though is where you get a big difference this lid is very solid and great for anything from storing paint to keeping food fresh. I've used mine for all sorts of things and it's been full to the top with liquid and never bends, not even a little so it's just better in every way. You'll just be paying about double for about double the quality. It's worth it if your using it for anything you care about not ruining. Last and deffenatly not least, I'm positive this bucket will last you at least 3 times longer then a cheaper version, you'll be saving money in the long run for sure. This bucket will last you a life time if your not extremely destructive with it.... even then it might hold up to quite the beating.

Excellent for Rock Salt Storage!
I purchased this 5 Gallon White Bucket with Lid to store 5 pound bags of rock salt (halite) in my garage for use during winter. I cannot comment on its use for food storage as I've only used it for this purpose and it works perfectly. Its made from thick heavy duty plastic, that's BPA free. The lid fits tightly and the handle makes it easy to carry around my driveway. It's heavy when full.Overall I highly recommend this bucket for storing non food items! Grade A!

Turkey Brine!!
I bought this specifically so I could brine our thanksgiving turkey. I was delighted to see that it is “food grade” and has a tight sealed lid. I’m inspired now to move on to using it for storing eggs, pickling activities etc. i definitely didn’t want glass, and was so pleased to get this unbreakable container!

not happy with lid.
The lid doesn't lock into place it only sits on top. I needed it to hold liquids and it is not convenient to have a lid that doesn't seal or snap onto the bucket

Tough Bugger
I was so excited: I ordered this to store my gluten-free flour. I had to order 12 smaller bags of flour, and was so excited and opened and dumped in 5 of them before I had the thought "what if the lid doesn't fit?" So I paused to try it - couldn't get it on. I stomped on it, jumped on it - nothing. I e-mailed the seller, they recommended a mallet. I'm like "good grief, If I need a mallet to get it closed, how will I get it open again? And do it regularly for baking?" I saw that there were pull tab kinda things on the lid, so I pulled them (using a utility knife to completely get through the pattern) all the way around.I can now happily say that I keep a hammer in my kitchen to snap the lid on with a few good whacks, and can get the lid off by pulling on sections as well, so it is a fully useable, well sealed flour bucket, lol.

Wouldn't brine without a bucket again.
I used this to brine our Thanksgiving turkey, which was about 16 pounds. It fit with a little room to spare around the turkey and plenty up to the top of the bucket. However, I'm not sure a 25+ pound turkey will fit. Put the turkey in first then add the brine to ensure it won't over flow. It's tall. I had to remove the middle shelf of my fridge for it to fit. Also, with all of the brine in the bucket it's quite heavy to transfer to the fridge. It doesn't fit in my dish washer since I can't remove the top rack so this is hand wash only for me. After 2 days of brining, it still retains the fragrance of the spices after multiple washings and soakings. Easily fixed by using a liner in the bucket.Overall this made the brining process much easier.
