ACDelcoGM Original Equipment D552 Ignition Coil Assembly

I tried to use this item on my 1989 Buick Lesabre Limited coupled with the proper AC Delco ICM new. You can check compatible parts through AC Delcos official webpage, they also match rockautos list of parts.I would like to note that the construction of this coil is very different from the factory coil, Standard Ignition matches the original coil closer. This does not mean this coil is bad though, its physical construction is very strong! Does not come broken or feel cheap like the Delphi Coil.I could not confirm how well this coil works though. I could never get my car to start with new AC Delco ICM/Coil or the new Standard Ignition ICM/Coil. Car fires up and drives just fine with my factory ICM/Coil i got out of a junkyard though.My original ICM/Coil burnt out about 3 years ago, so I got a junkyard unit to save money. I decided I want a new unit, i believe my junkyard factory unit will burn out like my original factory one sooner or later.I just can not get any new unit to work! The engine turns and fires then immidiately stalls with a new unit. You know its getting power, ground, sensor data and firing the plug or it would not even fire once. It is almost like when the ECM goes to take over the ICM through control wire it just dies. Almost like the main computer in the car cant speak to the new ICM computer.I have no check engine lights and I have replaced a lot of parts myself, the car is easy to work on. Runs perfectly fine on the junkyard factory ICM/Coil.I am not saying you will have this issue, I have read pleanty of forums where people rrplaced their factory units with New aftermarket with great success.I can not find anyone online who has my issue or who can explain the issue. Even shops do not understand it.I believe my car just likes factory ICM.I refuse to put a new coil on the junkyard factory ICM, thats what killed my original factory.Looks like i am junkyard hunting for a backup.

I went ahead and purchased this while replacing my ignition control module although the Delphi ICM I bought didn’t have threaded bolt holes so I had to use zip ties to hold it in place. Car doesn’t skip a beat now.

Excelent product

Definitely looks newer from the original, but disappointed it came from China. Resistance across coils was also lower, with one coil a bit lower than the rest, than a cheaper Standard T series brand that came from Poland. Also did not come with a gasket. Will update with further use.
