Vegan Chocolate - Ombar 100% Dark Chocolate (35g x 10 Bars) Organic Fair Trade, Dairy and Gluten Free Chocolate

I love 100% chocolate; I like that I can access all the natural goodness inherent in this wonder food, without having to add milk and/or sugar just to make it palatable.However, even some is just too bitter for me, and I feel that astringency spoils the complex flavour, rather like a very hot curry cancels out the herbs and flavour of the meat.And so, I’ve been burned before when taking a chance on a new chocolate - as they’re never cheap are they? So it was a nice surprise when I experienced a few squares of this deliciously (and comparatively) mild 100% chocolate.I’ve read a few not so positive reviews regarding the intense flavour - this is 100% chocolate! You’re probably best working your way up to 100% in small increments, and possibly start with the cheaper stuff first too.However, if you’re a seasoned consumer of chocolate like this, you may be pleasantly surprised.The bars may be small, but you get 10 of them, and the price I’d say is fairly reasonable. I’ve paid way more for a less enjoyable experience! Also, it’s worth remembering the nature of the beast - no one gorges themselves on this kind of chocolate! A few squares is enough to fully appreciate the wonderfully complex layers of flavour that reveal themselves to you as you slowly let them dissolve themselves on your tongue. Take your time, and savour them. Bliss.

i bought these as cacao stimulates stem cell growth in the body so i bought this box thinking i would have a couple of squares a day (if i could resist as i love chocolate). so let me just say that resisting this is not going to be a problem as the taste is actually fairly gross. way way too bitter for me. however i have no doubt this is totally what cacao tastes like so will perservere (and it is a perserverance) as its (in my view) revolting! i may need to get a sweet chocolate to i can take both at once and still benefit from the cacao. so 4 stars as its potent ... if this was on taste alone i would send them back. if you like seriously bitter than a) you are mad and b) this is for you .. it's less pleasant than drinking sea water.

Oh boy - these beauts are so delicious you'll have to stop yourself from gobbling them up all in one go. Yes they are a little expensive and the bars are quite small, but i follow a low carb paleo diet for health reasons, so i have to limit the sweet foods that i eat any way, so for me its a good think. They are very creamy and morish and are perfect for a little gift for someone. I highly recommend them and think they are way more tasty that a boring box of chocolates!

My sister introduced me to Ombar chocolate, she is dairy intolerant and can't enjoy ordinary chocolate. So this is really for her and she loves it. Yes you get a hint of coconut but it is not overpowering. Look forward to trying other flavours.

I didn't pay enough attention to the size of these bars, which are very small. The photo looks like normal size bars. My fault for not checking. Taste ok.

I was looking forward to trying these chocolate bars. They arrived a bit smaller than expected (can fit in the palm of my hand), so expected a larger bar for the price paid. That said, the weight/dimensions are on the listing, so that's my oversight. The experience was made worse however when, after opening the fourth bar in a row, I found that the foil has been folded into the chocolate, and the chocolate has set around it. It made the bars inedible, as they had paper or foil inside them. It also caused (I think?) a strange reaction in the chocolate, but this may be an unrelated issue or indeed, what it is supposed to look like. Either way, not great for the price. Fortunately Amazon refunded straight away, and the remaining bars went in the bin. Back to ol' reliable Dairy Milk!

Very smooth without the bitterness that I've found in other 100% cacao chocolate, and absolutely delicious!
