Elitech leak detector
Didn’t know what to expect, but really impressed. Checked indoor unit and did not find anything. Went to outdoor and detector went nuts down low. Traced leak to bottom pass of condenser had rubbed a hole. For what you pay for the more expensive this works great.

Worked for me!
Suppose this Elitech HLD-200 Plus helped me diagnose the ac issue on my '03 Taurus, and saved me A LOT of time and money! I had 2 worn out valve cores and the Elitech detected them very quickly. Tried cheap cores and problem persisted. Called Ford and got a couple OEM cores, now our ac is FREEZING us out! Going on 2 weeks and she's still blowing out 48 degree air! Would not have been possible to get ac back up and running this quickly without this phenomenal device, and believe me, I was skeptical! I resisted ordering for a day or two, poo-pooing my fathers suggestion... happy I finally listened and tried it! FYI, this model does come with a spare head (2 heads in total - as pictured).

Appears to work fine
It beeps and one light on all time to show it is powered on. I never got any notifications on leaks I tested for on my HVAC install. However, when I had to remove a hose to send back to MFG, some gas and liquid was escaping and I tried the leak detector than and it lit up showing there was a leak. All is good.

Worth it for the money!
This helped me find the refrigerant leaks in the manifold hose and condenser of my car. I had to trace the entire A/C pathway. It's like a hound that starts beeping when it gets a "scent" and barks like crazy when the real leak is found. First vacuum your system good and then add about 20 to 25 PSI of refrigerant and then start sniffing. For my leaks normal sensitivity was good enough. TIP: if it gets to the point where the detector is going off constantly, power-off and/or reset it and used low pressure compressed air to gently blow the sensor head clean. If you find a significant leak this can quickly over saturate the sensor head and ring false positives when moved away from the leak point. If you have slow leaks and need more sensitivity, try cupping the sensor with your hand under the line or A/C component to concentrate the gas as you move slowly through the system. Be patience. Go slow. And think, that R-134a is heavier than air, so remember to trace upwards too to help find the real leak point when it starts beeping.

Easy to operate and accurate also
Only used once but it found my leak immediately with no problems or doubts as to where the leak was. Checked entire system and found both small (read tiny or minuscule) leaks in no time and with pinpoint accuracy. This is my first refrigerant leak detector but I doubt there’s any that are easier to operate and as accurate in this price range. It let me know I could have my A/C functional this summer without spending too much money and do a full repair later so it will be right for next summer and I won’t have to be adding Freon every couple of months like this year. And any A/C is better than none in the SE with humidity levels at 80 and sometimes 90%. Definitely a money saver if not a life saver for me.

Failed three times. Wished it would work!!
I was so hopeful that this would work based on positive reviews.First, I was trying to find an R22 leak in my home HVAC system. It found nothing on all sensitivity levels. My friend who had a real expensive one came over and found it in short order. Then, I was looking for a R134a leak in my old car. It was really clear that the leak was at the front of the compressor because of the presence of oil and dust near the clutch/front seal. It did not alert there with 60psi on the system. Finally, I tested it by myself purging my low side line with it sniffing right at the line- still no alert.Did not work for me. At all. Can't recommend.
