Awesome style and amazing comfort. Definitely five-star worthy.
These were unbelievably comfortable right out of the box - almost like walking on air! They are light but still rugged and protective. The fit was spot-on ( I wear a 10 and ordered size 10). I wanted a boot with a little bit of a vintage-motox look for my retro-looking Moto Guzzi V7 Stone street bike, and these fit the bill perfectly. (I know, motox boots for a street bike?... but I like the look). They are very stylish (of course they're Italian) and really go great with the bike. On top of that, they are comfortable and flexible enough to walk around in off the bike as well. Another thing that I really liked about these boots was that I did not have to adjust my shift lever - the toe box is compact enough to easily fit under it, and shifting was a breeze. Granted, there is no shift pad, so there is some marking from the shift lever. But these are oiled leather that shows marks anyway, and it contributes to their overall serious, rugged appearance. They breathe nicely, and although it was a warm day (low-mid 80's), my feet did not get sweaty at all. They have the Drytech lining that lets perspiration out but does not let water in. I have not had the opportunity to test the waterproof capability, but given the overall high quality of these boots, I believe the little tag on each one that says "waterproof." The straps were easy to adjust and worked well, and the soles were nice and grippy. I am very pleased with this purchase and have no complaints at all.

Very comfortable
Boots are a good fit and very comfortable. They are well built. The only thing I don't like is the buckle system. I have had one strap fall out and it concerns me over the life of the boot. I tried upgrading the inner sole and I will tell you don't do that. The boots are a close fit and anything to change that like a different inner sole will make them uncomfortable.

Wide footed riders rejoice!
As a rider with a wide forefoot, finding shoes and boots that fit is a royal pain. Don't even get me started on ski boots... I ordered these based on reviews on advrider.com and other forums and the fit is fantastic. The toebox is wide enough for my forefoot and does not squeeze my pinky toes. That alone would give them 5 stars in my book, but they also look great. Some things to note:Like others have mentioned, this boot does not offer nearly the protection of a full on MX boot. That said, it is certainly much better than any street shoe/work boot. And the light weight is a bonus for time spent off the bike. Also, the top buckle is a little odd to line up, depending on whether or not you have a shin/knee pad in the boot.I wear a 10 street shoe and ordered a 10.

Fabulous boots, they just hurt my feet.
The Balance are awesome but they were just not for me. The bottom strap is held on by a BIG plastic round base which dug into my ankle fiercely...So I had to take them off after one trip through the living room. The standard Gaerne boots have a smaller base, and I presume it would not rub. . However, based on trials riders reviews onlineI thought I'd take a chance on StyleMartin boots ($30 less expensive, ankle protection and better arch support) and I found them to be perfect for me. Gaerne Balance are the gold standard, but they just didn't work for my feet.

Love them
These are great riding boots. Very comfortable and offer great protection. I've been riding off-road and on road for many years. And these are great boots for dual sport. You can wear jeans over the booth and still be comfortable. I am a woman and these fit me great . My feet tend to be a little bit narrow. I can walk in these for a long time and riding with them I can operate everything I need to on the bike they don't feel too bulky

very insastified the way amazon handled the transaction
The boot were advertised at 295$ Cad and free shipping. The shipping was not free and the price was in US $. Instead the price I paid on my credit card was 371.82$ instead of 295$. And when the boots arrived at home my wife had to paid 57.11$ import fees. So 371.82$ + 57.11$ = 428.93$It is a lot more than what I was expected to pay. I was expecting to pay 295$ + 44.25$ taxes for a total of 339.25$It is 89.68$ more than what I was expected. I was not at home after ordering the boots and did not check all the details of the transaction during my trip, I just checked it when I arrive. The boots are right but the way amazon advertise that product without saying the price was US$, saying the shipping was free while charging Shipping & Handling: $46.80 and not saying that the boots came from the US and that I will have to paid import duties is totally unacceptable. So if you live in Canada take care before doing business with amazon.I TRY to find a way to advise Amazon that you are not satisfied with the transaction and find no way other than that

Great boots with minor wear issues
I've put 20,000 miles on these riding my Tiger both on and off-road in the past year. They're holding up well generally speaking. The fabric liner is beginning to wear through at the top of the boot on both feet. It isn't a huge deal but it was a little disappointing. Otherwise, they are comfortable, waterproof and externally durable.

Yet Another Great Gaerne product.
This pair of Gaerne boots are the third pair i've bought. Where my SG-12's run big, these are actually a little bit tight. But being brand new, they ae very comfortable but still need to be worn to break them in.The construction is superb, materials are upper end, th fit is a little tight in front. I am wearing thick socks. I will switch to thin nylon socks tomorrow when i go riding. These are stiff, the leather is supple but thick. Great looking boot and priced to sell.
