No, the surface is not completely flat. It's slightly curved towards the center. So if you put, let's say, batter for a pancake, it will slide towards the center. We have used it on gas, but it should be okay on induction. However, I will not recommend this. Instead, if in the US, buy something from a local retailer. The surface of this tawa stains super quickly, and food gets stuck easily despite following the instruction i.e., getting the tawa sufficiently hot before using it.
