Accurate, easy to use salinity tester for salt water pools
I bought this device primarily to calibrate the chlorine generator on my salt water pool. It certainly was easy to set up and use. Just follow the directions at first, going ahead with the calibration process. Then rinse the tip with DISTILLED WATER after each us, allow it to dry, an replace the protective cap. Don't touch the contacts or glass bulb on the tip of the device and don't drop it. If you are careful with it, I imagine this will last a very long time. It seems quite accurate, including taking salinity, pH, and temperature readings. I'm not sure how safe it would be for something that is critical like a salt water fish tank, but for a salt water swimming pool, this device is super, at least so far!

Very easy to use and gives accurate readings
I changed from a Hayward T3 salt cell to a generic brand. The new salt cell works fine but it would not calibrate to the actual salt readings. I bought this to use and found it matched my pool stores reading exactly. Very easy to use. I dry it off before I put the cap on and put it away.

Works if you calibrate every time before use
You need to calibrate it before use otherwise the readings are off by several hundred. It's easier to use than salt test strips and also more cost effective.

Accurate and easy to use
Worked OK right out of the box, Have not had time to evaluate how long the accuracy will last but OK so far.

Nice meter, easy to use
Very easy to use. Comes with a wrist lanyard so if you just happen to be working above a large tank or pool you don't have to worry about retrieving it from the bottom if you fumble the meter.

Only good for a spot check. Will lead to disaster if you trust it for Marine use.
In December, I received nice salt aquarium for Christmas will all the bells and whistles. However, while bringing it up, i didn't like using the traditional refractometer as it can be hard to see. So I bought this. Everything worked fine for 45 days. Then I performed a water change with water I had made to match the tank. I did the change. Later that night, I use the meter to spot check the tank as that is what you do when you micro manage your marine tank. It read 28ppt. I panicked and began raising the salinity over the next day to 35ppt. All is fine. I thought! Then 95% of my large inverts die. All snails but one, all shrimp but one, all crabs but one, and all copepods. I cannot figure it out, checking everything. Next, my coral. All but 4 frags die. 2 of those very ill. I run an ICP test my water comes back perfect with the exception I'm at 44ppt. I assume something could be wrong on their end and took my tester to my son's house and put them side by side. His read 35ppt in his tank, and mine reads 27.5. Never trust this when you have animals lives at stake. If something seems off get the refractometer out. This device and my trust cost me about $500 bucks in livestock.

Spot on!
super easy to use. much better & more accurate then the test strips i've been using. When i take my water to test at local pool shop, it's exactly the same as their reading. Super happy! Will make opening the pool each year much easier as i'll have accurate results.

Not that accurate
I had a water sample done and compared to the accuracy of this. It wasn’t that good. Plus, there’s a calibration method that looks extremely annoying. If you have a saltwater pool with a control panel, it’ll tell you how much salt PPM you have in your pool anyway, and pH test are very easy.

Accurate and reliable
Arrived super fast. PH matches pool equipment reading post calibration (PH calibration sachets included). Salt level pre calibrated, however matches pool shop calibration. Accurate and simple to use.
