Q: .....can this be used as a regular knife? ...............the item description says that it is a letter opener....

This is a unique artistic rendition of an old Celtic knife. It is not a fake knife. It is hand forged out of spring steel. It is the perfect size for a letter opener but it can be used for any work requiring a small knife. Mine came very sharp and ready to use. It will make an excellent patch knife or carried on a necklace or attached to the strap of a hunter's bag.

Q: Can it be use for hand carving?

This is a good looing knife but is best suited as a letter opener. it would be very difficult to get a good grip on the handle for the pressure required to carve.

Q: Can i have this engraved

In looking at the knife i would say no to the engraving. it is a hand forged blade, very rustic, primitive looking. you may ask the seller about the engraving. what i can tell you is that this knife/letter opener is way cool. you will not be disappointed. the sheathe that comes with it is high quality as well. i have answered several peoples questions and hope they have purchased and are as pleased with this knife/letter opener as i am.

Q: I'm confused. it states the overall length is 5.945 and the blade is 5.709. that would be a very small blade! so what are the dimensions?
