Windy City Novelties 12 pack LED Ice Cubes with Changing Lights (Pink)

We discovered these when my wife received one with a specialty drink in a souvenir glass at a local restaurant. This one was a "Litecubes LLC" brand, which she uses a few times per week to brighten up her drink during cocktail hour. Since the batteries are non-replaceable, we knew the Litecube would have a limited lifespan, so we decided to order this batch of a dozen Windy City Novelty cubes from Amazon.Now, we can both enjoy a lighted drink before dinner, and also compare the quality and durability of the Windy City Novelty version with our original Litecube.Packaging & received condition: The 12 cubes arrived in a thin, compartmented plastic tray with a sheet of cardboard that slides over the back to prevent the individual cubes from coming loose or shifting position. Unlike the experience of some other reviewers, all 12 of ours arrived unlit and worked perfectly when turned on.Construction & appearance: The Windy City Novelty (WCN) cube and the Litecube (LC) cube are roughly the same 1.5" x 1.5" dimension at the base and 1.5" tall, tapering slightly toward the top. The plastic outer case of the LC is crystal clear, while that of the WCN is slightly translucent. The overall shape of the LC is somewhat "ripply," presumably giving it a more realistic "partly melted" appearance compared the more uniform shape of the WCN. The LC is filled with small, jagged chunks of clear plastic, giving the cube a crystalline appearance when lit. The WCN is filled with a highly aerated, but solidified clear plastic, giving it the appearance of being filled with tiny bubbles when lit. Both cubes are sealed at the bottom. The LC uses a bottom panel that is smaller than the base dimensions, so it is inset with the seam hidden when the cube is sitting upright. The bottom of the WCN has the same dimensions as the top part, so the seam is visible on the sides about ⅛" above the bottom when the cube is sitting upright. Both have similar oval-shaped labels on the inside surface of the cube bottom and are embossed with "Made in China" on the bottom. The WCN cube is also embossed with "CoolNoveltyProducts.com" on the bottom.Operation: Both cubes appear to contain identical electronics—a small circuit board with one red, one blue, and one green LED element, sitting atop a pair of coin batteries. Each uses a similar momentary switch with a positive click action to cycle through the seven solid colors in the same order, plus the eighth color-changing mode. Both switches are in the same location on the bottom corner of the cube, covered by a soft silicone protective seal.So far, the WCN cube has only been used in beer and white wine, while the Mrs. has used her LC in beer, wine and various mixed drinks. The LC cube has already been used for several hours total, so we expect it to expire before the first of our new WCN cubes. We rinse them after each use and store in the freezer. I'll update this review after we've gone though at least a few of the new cubes, and will also report on how well they hold up in a martini.

This is one of the few products that lets you select colors and have them glow solid instead of flashing. Flashing lights can get annoying after a while.

They look great and all of the different colors are nice and vibrant. One star off because one of the cubes didn’t work right out of the box. The rest were fine! Great party accessory.

These ice cubes are really cool, and work well. I ordered 2 set of them, so I got 24. I got these lights for a party, because I wanted some of the fancy drinks to light up. Each cube has one button to turn it on and select different colors.Color modes: red, green, blue, yellow, purple, light blue, white, fade through all the colors modeBatteries: not replaceableQuality: 1 out of 24 was defective. The rest worked great for the entire party, and still have lots of battery left.Size: 1.5 inches on each side. This is a BIG ice cube. I wish it was smaller.Floats: YES. These ice cubes float. That can be great, but I would prefer them to sink to the bottom of the cup.Freeze: NO. Do not freeze these. They are NOT ice cubes.Should you buy them: YES. I did a bit of shopping around and found these ice cubes are the cheapest way to light up party drinks. The cubes cost way less than buying light up glasses. The quality of these cubes is great. Everyone was really excited to see them in the light - up drinks.

I purchased these for our New Years Eve party and everyone thought it was so cool! These light up cubes were the hit of the party and looked so fun in every drink. I have used them for several occasions and every time they are the talk of the party with kids and adults.I like the multi color cubes but LOVE the on/off switch. They definitely lasted the whole party and we gave them to each person to take home. Our are still working. Great quality and worth the money.I would highly recommend if you are looking for a super fun addition to any party. If you purchase them you will not be disappointed.

I got these for my niece’s birthday- and she and her friend got a kick out of them…each one could pick and choose their colors.

The media could not be loaded. Out of the 24 lights I purchased, 6 of them did not even turn on. Another 10 were very dim when turned on. It seems as though they had been turned on and left on during shipping. There were about 8 that worked as they should. The packaging (not the delivery box) was dusty and old as if it had been on a shelf for decades. Very poor quality. Very disappointed with product.
