The bug zappers seem to last from 10 months to about 20 months. I have 4 zappers I use in the house and in my shop. The early failures are the lights, because the stock "ballast" is pushing too much current. The later failures are the caps failing on the ballast board.I had 2 of my zappers fail, so I purchased this one and another type (same MFG) to repair them.Replacing the stock ballast with this to try to extend the life of the zapper. So far they are working great. Looking forward to years of use with these. I will update if/when they fail.

This will run an aqua ultraviolet 40w classic sterilizer. Aqua will only sell you the 110 dollar replacement but if you can do the most basic of wiring this ballast will replace the garbage one they put in their products.

As the headline states this was really my only issue - I opened the failed original unit to see if it had been hardwired by the previous installer but it had not as it is a sealed unit inside the aluminum cover (expoxy covered)Otherwise worked perfectly - I either got lucky putting each of the red wires on the correct pins on the existing connector (thankfully I had not discarded it!) or the placement of the 2 red wires doesn't matter

Great replacement ballast i wasn't sure i would be able to find! Amazon had it, delivered it quickly and installed and worked the first time. I'm grateful for the broad ballast selection from Amazon. Great Service and reliable product!
