Nature's Path Organic Oatmeal Original Flavor-excellent product . . .iffy product information from Amazon
🌷🌷🌷a review from Mrs. L.🌷🌷🌷I gave this oatmeal 5 stars because the flavor, the quality of the food and the ease of preparation was outstanding. Given that we have a family member who requires a very low sodium diet, quick and easy breakfast options can be slim on our typically busy mornings. And if I have time in the mornings, I would rather spend those minutes staring into a gigantic cup of steaming coffee than stirring a pulsating pot of steel cut or rolled oats. So, with great determination to overhaul our breakfast routine. Tipping towards ease of production and nutrition, I began my search for low sodium, high fiber, no added sugar, no or low sodium foods.Lordy! What an experience in researching products that fit my criteria. And, it's amazing what manufacturers put in food to enhance flavor.I finally decided to try Nature's Path Organic Oatmeal Original Flavor. What really sealed the deal was the comment that one reviewer made, that his wife just poured boiling water over it and let it sit for five minutes. I ordered the oatmeal and have used boiling water each time and it turns out perfectly. The oatmeal is good. It has a slightly nutty, earthy flavor. The oats are rolled, so they hold their texture. I add about two tablespoons of golden raisins to the mixture before I pour boiling water on it, so that the raisins give the oatmeal the perfect level of sweetness needed without added sugar. All in all, I just like the wholeness and goodness of a purely unadulterated oat product like these for breakfast. Now . . .on Amazon's product page for this product there is a picture of the box this oatmeal comes in. On the front of the box,it says "NO SUGAR OR SALT ADDED". But, the Amazon description says that it has a sprinkling of flavor enhancing sea salt. So, I picked up the phone and called the company in Washington state. The company said the Amazon description is incorrect. There is no added salt. They have tried to get Amazon the change the description to no avail. Also, the company is very nice to deal with and they appreciate consumer questions and feedback. So, if you are looking for a sodium free oatmeal product, this product has no added salt. So, overall, this is an excellent product. Healthy, easy to make, good flavor and quality. Responsive company.

Super Convenient and Healthy Breakfast Option
I was surprised when the oatmeal arrived in a large box. It was a case full of smaller boxes with six or so packets in each box, so I am well-stocked with oatmeal for awhile. For the price, it was an excellent deal. I'm able to prepare the oatmeal at work the same way I've always prepared my Quaker oatmeal, which is to dump it into a cup and fill with boiling water. Super easy. I think this oatmeal is way healthier than the Quaker flavored packets, though. I still eat them every now and then, but a packet of this oatmeal is more filling. I run a lot--high metabolism--but I can eat the Nature's Path oatmeal at 8 and I'm good until lunch. Flavor-wise it is very plain, but I knew that was going to be the case. As other reviewers have commented, it's probably necessary to add in some kind of flavoring unless you have no taste buds. I've sprinkled in some cinnamon, which is good, and I've also added brown sugar (which may defeat the purpose of healthy oatmeal, but it tastes good). I think it would probably be just as good to add bananas, blueberries, or peanut butter. If you're looking for healthy and convenient breakfasts, I think this may be the best way to go.

Delicious and nutritious!
We order this oatmeal often. I like that the ingredients are so clean and simple - just whole grain organic oats- that's it! It's high in fiber and easy to make. Wonderful for travel - I take these packets with me on every trip where I know I'll have access to a microwave. You can use the packet to measure your water. I prefer using a measuring cup, but in a pinch the packet works! The oatmeal doesn't have a ton of flavor - but I wouldn't expect it to (it's simply oats). I add some peanut butter or other nut butter for a healthy and fast breakfast. Highly recommend!

Solid oatmeal but misleading protein/fiber claims
This review is for the original flavor (no sugar added) of Nature's Path instant oatmeal. A lot of reviews on this product page are clearly for other flavors or a variety pack, which seems to happen a lot on Amazon.I like this oatmeal and am happy with my order of a case of 6 boxes to keep at work so I can have oatmeal every morning. The ingredient list is one item long: rolled oats. That's it, no added sugar or salt, no coloring, no guar gum, and no added vitamins like Quaker and many other brands have (which may be a pro or con, depending on your goals). One small thing I take issue with: they make a big deal about having 8g of protein and 6g of fiber in every serving. Indeed, that's basically double the other brands. *However* each packet is 50g which is also basically double the other brands (which are typically 28g). So it's kind of a scam. It's also a lot of oatmeal, especially if you like to add things to it such as nuts & berries, as I often do.I noticed a lot of reviews complaining about how this and other instant oatmeals turn into bland mush. While I don't think instant oatmeal can ever compare exactly to the non-instant variety, I do think it can be helped along by cooking it less. If you mix this with boiling water, you probably don't need to heat it any more. Just stir it for a minute and it will be good to go. If you start with cold or warm water, I recommend microwaving in 10-second intervals and stirring in between. You can stop when you hit your desired consistency. I make this at work and I start with hot water (around the temp of a cup of tea) and then microwave/stir once or twice and that's it. You won't get a ton of texture, but you can get it more creamy than gummy, which is still pretty nice.

Just Oats without Roundup: Perfect
All I do is mix some raisins, cinnamon and a dash of salt into a bowl (salt helps the taste), mix thoroughly, add some boiling water stir again and it is fine to eat in < 1 minute, with milk in our case. It cooks quickly apparently because the oats are cut up a bit before packaging. This is the brand with no roundup (glyphosate) like there is in all the most others. Roundup weedkiller kills weeds but oat farmers found it helps dry out the crop faster at harvest too, so they spray, right before they harvest. Look on any bottle of Roundup at the garden store, it will state that it is moderately toxic to humans. EPA agrees. And of course other species are affected too. The Environmental Working Group has funded controlled laboratory studies showing that the roundup persists in most commercially-available oatmeal. If it is cold and you are camping you might prepare it separately, add hot water only to your bowl and then dump that out and add the oatmeal mix and new hot water. It is pure oats, cut fine (like steel cut) so it cooks better than regular, full flake oatmeal. I have a box of 8 for each of you sprouts, or just take one and try it at home. I use LOTS of cinnamon, but suit yourself. The package has no foil, is light and can be burned or packed out. What’s not to like about Nature's Path Organic Instant Oatmeal (Original)? We use it for backpacking, boondock camping and at home in larger containers that are recyclable cardboard with a plastic recyclable lid! I have the scientific credentials to testify to the above. Science matters.
