Jane is a Screwball Comedy
I really enjoyed this anthology. Though I am a practicing male heterosexual I must admit that Jane and her lovable Lesbian gal pals are a hoot. Jane's adventures are off-the-wall, hilarious, and can stretch the bounds of credulity. But it is a comic strip after all. Jane (who in the looks department is a plain jane) seems to have lots of options in the area of romance and constantly fouls them up with her indecision and lack of commitment. Some people might claim that a comic strip in which lesbians constitute the large majority of the characters is not suitable for a daily paper, but rarely does a segment reach the PG level and never past PG-13. The characters are fetchingly drawn without being caricatures and the humor is genuine and real.I look forward to more collections being released.

Jane's World is a great comic.
Jane's World is a great comic. It is surreal and very funny. This book contains Volumes 1, 2 and 3 of the Jane's World collections. At 475 pages it is a great bargain. I gave the book only 4 stars instead of 5, because the comics are reproduced in a smaller format than in other volumes.

Cute Comic about an awkward loveable girl
Jane is an awkward girl who many can relate to on some level. She just can't seem to get anything right and thats why we love her. Comedy ensues while Jane does embarassng things in front of girls she likes and can't seem to connect with. Highly Reccomended book for everyone who loves a goofy main character, cute artwork, and a nice storyline.

Pretty good comic
It gets a little vague at times, but I like the flow. The characters are real... interesting, funny, and annoying at times.

"Ellen" meets "Doonesbury"
The best way I can describe this series is it reminds me of what the tv show ELLEN might look like if drawn in the style of DOONESBURY. But I think the writing here is a LOT funnier. The inter-personal relationships struck me as a bit more complex and confusing that those in John Blackburn's Coley novel, BREATHLESS-- but that just means I need to go re-read it again. With a book this fun that's something I look forward to. (And generally, I barely have time to read most comics once!)A friend of mine once commented how she thought, in WEST SIDE STORY, that Tony had more "chemistry" with Maria's brother than he did with Maria. That got me howling, and I replied that may explain why her brother was so hot for a fight. I was reminded of that exchange when Jane & Chelle spend half the book getting mad at each other... then, SUDDENLY, fall into each other's arms. I suppose this happens in "real life" a lot... but it's not any kind of relationship I'd want to be in! All the same, it's fun to watch the fireworks from the sidelines. Now I'm looking forward to reading Vol.2. I've just gotta see what happens on the ski trip.
