Preacher: The 25th Anniversary Omnibus Volume 1

Ennis and Dillon strike gold.
Someone once told me: "The books is much different than the show - it's much more of a western." I don't know what that person was thinking when they told me this. If you've seen the show, the book's for you; coincidentally, if you've not seen the show, the book's still for you.Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's Preacher is amazing. It doesn't feel like a thousand pages, never mind 1080 pages. It's easy to read 200-300+ pages in a sitting, without realizing how much has been read. The art's wonderful - a truly succinct reading experience. Ennis' writing is so free in this book, there are no rules, save those Ennis and Dillon establish within the world. Every part of the story belongs, nothing seems to come at the behest of the plot; rather, all of the story's events fit, they're earned. Dillon's art makes all of it feel so proper, his linework has that appeal of being foreign, yet familiar. And Matt Hollingsworth's color? The book is an incredible read, complete with solid laughs.

Excellent series.
Great book, beautiful artwork, well written. I remember reading the original comics when they first came out. Will definitely be buying volume 2 as soon as I've read this one.

Preach
What is not to love about Preacher? Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon created one of the most influential and generation defining comic books of all time. I was 15 when it came out and I remember how revolutionary it felt at the time. A preacher who effs and jeffs and murders, an Irish vampire, a beautiful bad ass hired killer and a boy with an arse for a face! Plus a God who just decided one day to quick being God!If people ask me about comic books, I often point them to this title as a good place to start, because it isn't at all what they expect and it really does have some of the finest storytelling around. Yeah, I will also have to warn them that it is definitely not PC - it wasn't in the 90s and it certainly isn't now. It exists in its own time and its own world and, even with some of the faults, the storytelling is so incredible, the violence is so extreme and the care that was taken to do something offensive on every page, makes this an absolute blast. This omnibus and volume 2 together contain every single issue of Preacher and its various mini-series. buy it!

Great plot, but lots of gore and nudity
I really enjoyed this book. The story is compelling and the characters are very fleshed out. It can be a bit comical at times, and a little over the top, but it’s good. If you are sensitive to nudity, profanity, or violence then maybe give a different book a try.

Preacher 1-33 +
A great collection of 1/2 of the Preacher experience. It is in my opinion, aside from reading the actual DC Vertigo comics, the next best way to delve into the Preacher's wicked world. It contains Preacher 1-33, Preacher Specials : Saint of Killers 1-4, and Cassidy Blood and Whiskey 1, along with some pin-ups, letters, sketches & more. What is Missing is the Cover art of each issue by amazing artist Glenn Fabry ( check out any Preacher issues for sale on Ebay to see what I mean), it was his cover art that 1st attracted me to buy the books, from there the Story and art from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon had me hooked for the ride. I cannot believe it's been 25 yrs since I 1st read this but (insert dinosaur joke) holding and reading this book, not online digital copies on phone, tablet or pc's is, I believe THE way to experience Preacher!I can't wait for Vol.2 August 31, 2021
