I have embroidered for many years and am an avid reader of different approaches to embroidery techniques. This book is just brilliant! I was considering booking a course in silk shading at the RSN but decided to purchase this book and see how I felt after......it is difficult to replicate face to face training but actually this fantastic book does it for me. Each step is clearly set out in close up photos and the instruction is clear. This book covers so much more than thread painting/silk shading and I particularly enjoyed the sections on framing up and mounting - this is the stuff that will really set your work apart from the others. I have often been left with questions when reading other embroidery books but not so with this one. I have picked up so many useful tips and this will remain a key reference book for me going forward. The many projects are delightful and cover padding and 3D work - there is so much to be inspired by in this book. I cannot recommend enough!

It’s beautiful to look at, has some really good techniques to learn and try like anchoring the stitch. Some templates to try out and great step by step guide. I would say this is aimed at people who know a little bit about embroidery already, but that they are still beginners.
