A good solution for remote steering on small boats
A perfect solution. 9 foot RIB (100+ pounds) with a 6HP outboard. Driving this RIB while seated in the stern left the RIB plowing along with the bow up at a significant angle. Adding this tiller extension allowed me to steer and control the speed while sitting forward in the “rowing seat” and the RIB to balance out and get up on a plane giving us a smooth, easy ride. The tiller grip on my outboard is 1-3/4” diameter. The coupling had to be manually stretched open a bit to get it on but it allowed the tiller to be fully inserted and securely clamped into the coupling. There were some reviews that indicated that the unit vibrated noisily and that the grip handle easily slipped off. Apparently the manufacturer noted and corrected these issues since neither are applicable to the unit that I received a couple of days ago. Installation / removal was a matter of just a couple of minutes. Having the ability to switch from an articulated to a fixed steering arm extension is a huge advantage depending on which side of the boat you are steering from. It took a little practice to feel comfortable sitting so far away from the outboard tiller but once I got a feel for it there were no problems with steering or throttle control even at higher speeds (not recommended by the manufacturer/supplier). Overall, I am much happier with this tiller extension than I expected I would be and would not hesitate to recommend it. It is a well made product,

Well made aluminum body. Anodized and even the grip feels comfortable in hand.
Bought it for my kayak. Works flawlessly. Quick release adjustments and smooth universal. Def worth the money. At least would be solid enough to fight back jaws, should he dare come thru and try snag my fish...Only complaint is the part where it goes around your handle is a little flimsy feeling. Ived just about cranked her to the max and it feels solid. But as your tightening and it forms to the handle, I cant help but baby the wing nut. Afraid the plastic might snap. But in reality it's meant to give alittle to hold the throttle tight. Which it does. Quite Well actually.. Never had it come off either with my decisions rivaling that of a 3yr old. While adjusting and turning and losing the handle and almost flipping. I would secure the handle under a bungee cord so it kinda like a cheap autopilot. Just keep your killswitch lanyard clipped to you. Or you'll be swimming with free willy.

U-Joint Model is a Good Choice
I got this to use on my 14' Livingston boat with a 9.9 Force Gamefisher outboard. I had to remove the rubber grip on the outboard tiller as well as the rubber insert on the tiller extension handle for it to fit. I've only used it once but without the rubber grips, it fell off easily. I will need to find something to wrap the tiller with to provide more grip without bulk. That being said, I found the U-Joint fairly easy to learn and I could sit further forward to better balance the boat to keep the bow from rising up too high. It was easy to steer with only slight movement of the extension. You can control the length by pulling out the inside center pole the catch on several possible stop points on the outer pole. If you move the outside pole over the U-Joint, there is a stop point so you can make it a fixed extension at the shortest length. One other problem I found is that when I sit further forward, I can't reach the shut off switch or the gear shift lever. This means you can't stop the motor quickly if needed. I will have to figure out if I can control these without walking back to the motor.

Excellent extension with versitle U joint
I purchased this extension for my electric trolling motor on my NuCanoe Frontier 12" kayak. Put it to the test on a three day fishing trip in the inshore waters and creeks around Charleston, SC. The knuckle joint is the key to easy of use. I was able to move my seat to achieve a 50/50 balance in the kayak and paddle comfortably or cruise under power in control. The extension is easy to slip to the right point you need. I did need to remove the interior collar to fit the handle on my motor, but that was an easy change. The extersion tightens well and easily on the handle and has a comfortable padded handle for your hand. Well made and the knuckle joint is heavy duty. Great value. shipping was quick too. Would recommend or buy again.

This item is overpriced for the quality
The rubber hadle on the end of this is very cheap, it falls off after only a couple trips, and the swivel point is hard to oil, so it squeaks.
