So I was pretty skeptical about these as I have a severe sensitivity and normally start itching within minutes of wearing earrings with nickel. I initially bought one pack of these hooks just to test my sensitivity and figured if they were not good then I was out the money, my loss. However, I was very pleasantly surprised, my ears didnt itch at all at the first pair I swaped out. I have subsequently bought another 3 packs of these hooks and have since swaped all the hooks of my earrings. There were a few hooks which were not useable in each package, but I guess that's to be expected, it didnt bother me. I dont know if they are surgical steel, but they are definitely nickel-free and hypoallergenic and I'm very happy that I can finally wear all my earrings.

I always like buying clip on earrings and changing out the clip for hooks, I find that they are cheaper and the clips are always so painful anyways. I also love buying the cheaper jewelry from stores (tinkerbell or icing, claires etc) however I hate having the cheap metal in my ears and some can turn your skin green, I find that if I switch out the hooks for surgical steel, I can buy any earring and not have to worry about the effects of the poor quality metal, I know what all my hooks are made out of. These are great because you get 100 for such a minimal price and then you have 50 pairs of safe earrings.

I usually have allergic reactions to earrings, so I picked these because they say they are surgical steel. Unlike some other reviewers, I've had no issues whatsoever with allergic reaction to these hooks. I LOVE these because they are easy to put on, and easy to mount my dangles on. I had several pairs of earrings I couldn't wear due to my metal allergies, so I took the dangles off of the original hooks and put them on these hooks. I feel like I have several pairs of new earrings! And at the price, I'm very happy. They did take a couple of weeks to arrive though.

These completely suit my purposes. I first ordered 22K Gold Plated Surgical Steel Hypo-Allergenic Earring Hooks (100) and I was happy with those, so I decided to get the (silver) surgical steel ones as well. These are not perfect, but at the price, and given some of the other reviews, I wasn't expecting perfection. Where do they fall short? Well, they aren't all exactly the same; some are shorter than others, a few ball & coils are missing, the way the hooks are bent varies somewhat from one to the next. The coils on a portion of my hooks aren't tight, but I am able to mash them together with pliers without much trouble. These are small criticisms. There is no question in my mind that the hooks are in fact surgical steel as I've purchased other surgical steel hooks and the distinction (from say, silver-plated brass hooks) is in how hard they are, which is a quality I like. Bend this into the shape you prefer (I habitually bend the ear wire closer in to lessen the likelihood that it'll fall out when in someone's ear) and it'll stay that way. The order took awhile to come but I knew that going in. And not only did I get the 100 I ordered, but found a bit more than that in the tiny ziplocked bag. (Oh yeah, I count 'em!) Quite satisfied.

My wife was experiencing some irritation with some of her older earrings, so we purchased these to up date the posts with newer metal. The surgical steel has worked extremely well and ever since we swapped them out she has not had any irritation. The cost was great we were able to do most of her earrings for only a few dollars. It was significantly cheaper than replacing all of her earrings and probably even cheaper than replacing one pair. This would also be an excellent purchase for someone doing a craft or making some sort of jewelry art.

These earring backs were a great purchase! You get a bang for your buck with this for sure - 100pcs for the price is unbeatable. These are great for handcrafted jewelry and can make your crafting a breeze without worries. Would definitely recommend.

Got them quickly and in very good shape. This is the 2nd time I have ordered these and will keep on ordering them. Out of the package of 100 pcs I only find like 2-3 that are missing the ball on them and like 1-2 that are missing ball and coil. Which for being mass produced and packaged isn't bad. But I like them because they are solid Surgical Steel and won't break your ears out ! So they are perfect for making my earrings.

These are great for people who have a sensitivity to cheap jewelry. I used these to replace the hooks on my other earrings that are cheap jewelry material. Issue I have with these are the tiny metal spurs on the hook itself. My ear got incredibly agitated and when I took the earring out and I felt a sharp spur as I ran my finger along the hook. This had to be filed down with fine emery sandpaper and it was fine after that. This would have been nice to know before putting the earring into my ears.
