Fun to run, pretty good value for the money
This item requires little time to get up and running, it came with 2- 7.4V 800mah LiPo batteries with Deans connectors. There are some good extra battery choices on AMZN, make sure to order the ones with the Deans connector! I charged up two batteries on a HiTec brand charger, I fly RC planes and have 5 different types of LiPos to run them. The batteries charged up to 8.27V overall, with cell voltages in the 4.13V to 4.14V range.. There is an included USB charger that might take an hour or more, I haven't tried it yet. I adjusted the steering knob while running it straight towards me from about 20 ft. I found that when running it further, it needed just a little more adjustment to have it run straight, going about 100 ft. I used 2 brand new AA Duracell Alkaline batteries in the radio to test the transmitter to truck range. I found the range to be 65 yards, then the truck would stop. I walked about 20 ft. & had no problem getting the vehicle to return. I set the throttle limiting dial to 3/4 after I got used to the steering on the radio. The included LiPo batteries gave me a run time of 8 minutes each after which I tested each battery to see what the remaining cell voltages were. I ended with 7.45V to 7.57V, with the cells reading out between 3.73 to 3.78V per cell. I recharged the lower voltage one up to 3.78-3.80 V per cell which is perfect for storage. I recommend getting a Battery checker, AMZN has many choices but I would try the:Havcybin Digital Battery Capacity Checker RC CellMeter 7 for LiPo Life Li-ion NiMH Nicd, Controller Tester Voltage Tester which is $8.99, Approximately $16.25 shipped. There are several makers of this type of tester, they are good for several types of batteries. They give you overall voltages and also readings for each cell. To have your batteries last, you really need to have a checker. I try to never run a battery down below 3.5V per cell, if you keep your cell voltages on any LiPo up from 3.75V to 3.81V, they can store for several months. I ran the truck on a dirt runway so after each battery, I shook the sand out of it. When I was done, I used compressed air to blow everything out and then wiped it down with a damp cloth. For the money spent, it's fun and I think it is a fairly good value. Just be realistic, this in not a hobby grade toy.

Fantastic truck
For being so small and running a brushed system this lil guy is a bunch of fun. Not blazing fast but quick enough to take some jumps. We put larger wheels on our 1st 1, it does go a bit faster and handles better. The stock tires are not formed or it they are it is negligible. So adding good framed slightly larger ones is a benefit all around.I also recommend getting oil filled shocks. The stock friction dampers are ok I suppose for a kid. But to really enjoy this truck to its fullest for handling and landing jumps it is vital to spend a couple dollars more and upgrade those. If you can find this truck on a deal like I did, it is a no trainer for any collection. May even upgrade to brushless someday!

Fun Car
These little RC cars are a lot of fun. The 1/16 scale is fairly small if you are expecting it to be a monster truck, but this is a very capable truck. It has a very soft suspension that lets it handle some serious bumps without launching the vehicle. The speed is more than enough and can cause some serious impacts if not handled properly. The handling is fairly good with the 4 wheel drive traction and it easily flies through thick grass and loose dirt. The battery capacity is ample for a good bit of fun before it runs out. The car comes with a spare battery so one can be charging while the other is in use. It will take longer to charge than it can be depleted, but still gives a good run time having both batteries available. The only complaint I have is that the retainer clips are too easily knocked off. They don't seem to pop off unless you have a fairly aggressive impact, or flip of the vehicle but I lost 3 clips in the first few runs. Luckily it does come with a complete set of spares, but they should be a little bit firmer in their attachment. These vehicles are far more advanced than the ones I had available as a kid. The wireless range is good, the speed and handling is good, and its a lot of fun.

The dog loves it.
The most fun I have had lately and it's a toy. I bought this know that my dog got excited seeing a neighbor's RC car. Sure enough, she barks and chases it around the back yard until she is exhausted. When I pick it up in the house she knows we are going to play. This thing is fast for $100. It has been flipped and run into the fence, a pole, etc. and still keeps working. I had a larger Traxxas RC truck years ago but it never had this kind of speed. I really like the speed controller on the remote control and the fact there is no telescoping antenna to break off. Charging the battery on the USB supplied charger is pretty quick. Of course having an extra battery means I always have one ready. The dog can't do more than one battery at a time. After 10 minutes of hard charging racing around the yard she is finished. I also love the little headlights that you can put on as option. Haven't popped them out with all the crashes and flips that happen. I would say for the money this is a great deal and well worth the money. You aren't out a ton of dough and yet you have some fast fun. I would buy this again and again and I am an old guy. Have to update my review. After having it a while it still runs great and takes a beating. Bought a Haiboxing RC and it came to previously used and returned. So I can't say enough to buy from Redcat for a quality, NEW, RC car/truck.

Lose control
I bought Redcat Racing Volcano on Amazon in September for my son. He loves this car. It works great most of the time. Since September we've witnessed 3 times when the truck would just take off and would hold the full speed as reported by some other customers. Today car went onto a public drive, luckily there were no cars.
