So good, we bought another
USB powered, flex LED lamp is surprisingly bright and uniform. The clamp could be a tad smoother, but it doesn't affect the performance of the lamp. I clamped it to a trim piece on our pier bed. Locating a spot to mount it took about five minutes and mounting it took another five. I used an existing multi-outlet USB power supply, and it worked immediately. This means that I have another spare USB power supply. The power switch is a 1/2 inch or so metal plate on the very tip of the lamp. It's an electronic switch, so it requires almost no pressure whatsoever to turn on or off. This may take a few minutes to get used to, but nothing major. The gooseneck is strong enough to hold the lamp in position, but not so strong that it'll require great effort to move it. Approximately half of the lamp (the 8" at the end of the gooseneck) is clear, so there's shading to keep it from lighting the ceiling. This LED light is brighter than most lights but it generates almost no heat. The lamp is alys cool to the touch--I'm still not used to the coolness.Something a little confusing is how you order the lamp. It's available in four configurations. They're listed as colors. Under White, there's an option for step less dimming and for stepped, then the same two options under black.i chose the step less dimming on both lamps. To turn it on or off, tap the power switch. To dim, touch and hold the switch. To get back to max brightness, touch and hold again.I have nothing negative to say about this lamp. Within ten minutes of my installing it and turning it on, my wife was ordering one for herself.

Versatile, clever -- dorm rooms, motel rooms, camping -- not to mention household use
These can be used with a battery -- the "external battery" kind of portable thing that lots of folks use to recharge cellphones etc. these days. That makes this lamp very portable. It can go camping -- bright light, clamp to attach it to picnic table or inside tent. Battery will power it for quite a while. (Can be un-clamped to go off to the outdoor toilet, too.)It can be useful in a dorm room. Move it from desk -- plugged into wall -- to bed, for study or reading in bed.We plan to take it with us when we travel by car. Motel rooms are frequently not very bright. And when we stay in a city for a week or more, many times the rental house does not have good reading lights. We'll be taking it with us on vacations, for sure. And it seems like it will be useful as a worklight when we need to work on something small, like a watch or similar. Can be used on any counter or tabletop -- not confined to workbench, where there is already a light. Can be plugged into wall, using USB converter. Then it's just one more wall lamp -- but easy to move around.Lots of uses. Very clever.

The best reading lamp ever.
This is a fantastic lamp, the clamp screws open very widely which allows it to be mounted to the headboard very easily. The l.e.d. light is bright and clean and it can be infinitely adjusted to give you the amount of light that you want. I read between 50 and 100 books a year and this is without a doubt the best reading lamp that I have ever used. Highly recommended.

Among my best Amazon purchases
This is a long overdue review because I am only reminded when I turn it on as part of settling in for the night. Definitely one of the top 10 products (of hundreds) I have ordered from Amazon. At a very affordable cost, it accommodates the unique structure of my headboard, it is attractive and it adjusts easily to shift direction of light. The on/off feature is awesome - I can reach up without even looking and with a gentle tap increase the brightness or turn the light down to a soft dim. I recommend!

Clamp is useful.
The clamp on this lamp is the most useful feature. There are a lot of places that because of the width or angle of the thing you want to put it on, a clip would slip off. The clamp also works well if you only have a short area to put it on, like the edge of the monitor (that's what I did with mine). If I had used a clip lamp it would slide down and squeeze the screen instead of the frame. What I don't like about this lamp is the button for on/off/brightness. To change the brightness you hold the button. But it changes the brightness slowly, then will either stop at the top or bottom... Maybe it's just me but I think it's confusing/annoying. But once you have your preferred setting, just leave it there and you're fine.

Cheaply made but awesome dimming option.
Love the dimming option! Lost 2 stars because of how cheaply this product is made (I’m sure it won’t last long) and the fact that I was also looking for something much smaller. Also, the touch activation is at the extremity of the light bulb, when I feel it should be at the base. Other then that it isn’t worth a return for me and will make due with it.

BEST little lamp!
I do a lot of work with vinyl and needed better desk lighting, but didn't want to take up too much room in my workspace. I've been using this for a few months now and have zero complaints! I love being able to dim the light and I love being able to bend and twist it or I need it! When this dies, I would happily buy this again.

Great lamp and great customer service
This is one terrific clamp lamp. Well engineered attachment and the light is perfect for reading in bed. The soft-touch on/off with memory, and infinitely variable dimming is fabulous.===Update: After a year and a half of use, one of the two lamps I purchased on this order suddenly failed. It was stuck on bright, then when unplugged and replugged, would not light up again. I wrote to the seller (Lelife) and within minutes received a reply from Michael at the company, offering to send a replacement at no charge. That is how you earn five stars and keep them. Excellent customer service.
