This little gem is a powerhouse of great sharpening ability. It is not so big that it takes up a lot of room on one's desk, but it is really efficient. It sharpened my pencil to a perfect tip in only a few seconds. One thing to note...it does not have an automatic shut off and you will grind your pencil to pieces if you aren't paying attention.The sound of the sharpener is not to harsh. It is kind of a high buzzing sound, but not overly loud. The tray that catches the shavings is not very large, but it can hold the shavings from 2-3 pencils before needing to be emptied. Emptying was really easy. I only had to grasp the shavings compartment and it slid off easily in my hands. I was able to replace it just as easy. Word of caution, empty it over a trash can.Here are my favorite features about the sharpener that I LOVE. First, it accommodates different size pencils. This is important for artists or anyone else using multiple sized pencils-I have found this feature hard to find and have recently purchased non-electric sharpeners to fill the gap. Second, this is a dual powered sharpener. It will run on 4 AA batteries, but it also came with an additional electric adapter so I can just plug in and go. Third, Laneco provided additional blades for the sharpener and a tiny, but well built, screwdriver to change those blades out if necessary. They are serious about their product. AND...if all that were not enough, there was a pencil grip and the sweetest tiny little gift card in the box as well. This makes for the perfect all encompassing gift if one could ever part with it. I am a pencil and pen geek and I won't part with this!I am really very, very pleased with this product. I have several little mini sharpeners that you turn manually. I ordered this pencil sharpener to speed up my sharpening process for my four year old that gets impatient with broken color pencils. I was excited to get it in the mail, but the sharpener doesn't sharpen like it should! The motor goes "rrr" "rrr" very slowly, as if it's not getting enough power, which doesn't make sense because it's plugged in. When it is actually done sharpening (which is much slower than manually), the pencil was only sharpened on one side. I tried rotating the pencils to see if it'll sharpen all around, to no avail.After thirty minutes of trying, I promptly bought the next most inexpensive electric pencil sharpener on Amazon. It's now just taking up storage in one of my "miscellaneous" bins.

Perfectly compact. I like the plug-in feature so I don't have to keep buying batteries. It fits neatly in the junk drawer in my kitchen where the kids do their homework. Has two sharpening sizes and sharpens smoothly, to a sharp point, without breaking lead or sharpening only the wood around the lead. Only complaint is the shavings cup is not really a "cup". It's more like a cap. If you don't open it over a garbage can, all of the shavings will fall to the floor.

I got this sharpener for my daughter and this is her review:I dislike using dull un-sharpened pencils. The letters seem to be less neat and it smudges easily. My school, as any other schools, require us to write a lot. That being said, I need a good stash of sharp pencils to use for all my school works.This product came with all you need and more. Included in the box were: the sharpener, an adapter, instructions, and two gifts. The gifts were a great surprise. There was a cute little card as well as a little pencil grip.Set up for this product is easy. You can plug it in with the included adapter or insert batteries (not included). I like this quality as it allows this product to be portable and if you don't like having to deal with cords or finding an outlet, there is an alternate option. This sharpener also has two cutting units for sharpening jumbo and standard pencils. To sharpen, all you have to do is insert the pencil. However, there is a protection lock on the unit for jumbo pencils. To unlock, insert the pencil then press the green button on top of the sharpener. The compartment is easy to open and empty out, which is good considering other sharpeners require you to press a button or something.In the battery compartment, you will find an extra blade and a screwdriver. The blades are easy to replace. Instructions go as follows: 1) Unplug or take out the batteries to make sure that there is no chance for the sharpener to accidentally turn on. 2) Open the compartment as if you were emptying it. 3) Using the screwdriver carefully unscrew the dull blade. 4) Place the replacement blade in and screw it back in tightly. 5) Close the compartment and you are ready to go.I really like this product. I can bring the sharpener with me to school or leave it at my desk. With this electric sharpener, I can have sharp pencils and not worry about getting blisters from sharpening a load of pencils manually. I love this pencil sharpener! It shaves a nice, short, sharp tip to our pencils. There is no wasted graphite. It comes with extra blades to replace dull ones. I have multiple sizes of pencils so this device is perfect. Great for our colored pencils too!!Update: it was a great machine until it wasn't. It stopped working in the fall of 2017. It only worked well about 7 months. It did come with a replacement blade, but the screws stripped the first time I used the driver to remove it. Sadly, it was short lived.
