It is cloth
The hammock has wooden separator but the ropes and the cloth is all cotton. So beware of exposing to rain or sun. Better go with the ones that come with nylon stuff and then toss your own bedsheet or duvet on top for comfort. And when it rains just remove your sheet and you could leave the nylon stuff out carefree.
