5 Pounds Nishiki Haiga Rice, Pack of 1

This is priced too high to be an everyday rice for me but it's honestly the best I've ever tasted - and I eat a lot of rice. It's sort of like a cross between white and brown rice textually, has that nice little nutty crunch a bit, and it's just a beautiful flavor that actually reminds me a bit of wild rice. I love this stuff, wish it were cheaper. All Nikishi rices are very, very good IMO.

Great quality short grain rice.Has a good balance between heart brown and lighter sushi style rice.

The perfect compromise between brown rice and white rice. This rice comes out pleasantly sticky in a rice maker and makes for great Japanese meals. It’s incredibly energizing and satiating and easy to digest. I love how healthy it is and it tastes more like white rice than brown but retains so many nutrients and benefits. Wash it gently. My only gripe is the price here on Amazon. I have a market that often sells out of it, but I know that they charge quite a few dollars less than what I paid for it on Amazon so I’m giving 4 stars for the price gouge.

Be aware though, while this is slightly more flavorful and cross between unrefined brown rice and white rice it is a sticky rice. I do like the rice though and it one of my favorites for the right meal. There is no one rice is perfect for everything. There is a rice for different meals and like this rice when I am in the mood for something like this.

We’ve been using this kind of rice but with 5lb. It’s too pricey so I went back to HONGKONG market to get the 25lb. Instead.

Cooks up almost as quickly as white rice and requires just a smidge more water to bring to perfection. I rinse it lightly just one time and then put it into my rice cooker. It's just a little bit chewy, so you know that you are eating brown rice but it clumps like white rice. It's my go-to rice when I absolutely do not need white rice. Oh, and it's so tasty!

We love this brand of haiga rice and it’s our third or more purchase. We’ll be back for more, when we’re done with this bag :)

I've been making this haiga rice by *gently* rinsing several times and then letting it soak for 20 minutes in the correct water/rice ratio. Then it goes into my Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 rice cooker, using the "semibrown" setting. It comes out perfectly every time. It's uniquely flavorful, and less expensive than other haiga rice vendors.
