Wow, a fast, easy, yet reliable way to make use of extra SATA Hard Drives.
If you are anything like me, you do not let things go to waste. I have removed all the hard drives out of every laptop I have owned, and even some that belonged to friends when their computers died.I always hoped I would someday have a way to make use of them. Well, thanks to Inateck, someday is today. The Inateck USB 3.0 to SATA III Hard Drive Adapter is the perfect tool to use with all those spare SATA Hard Drives. I have a number of the small laptop drives, and all I had to do was attach the cable to the drive, and plug it into my device. In next to no time at all, I was using the drive that was simply collecting dust, just as well as if it were attached inside my computers case. Some might not see this as a big deal. after all, there are similar hard drive enclosure cases out there on the market that already do what this device does, and I agree, there are. To use them, you have to open the enclosure, remove all the screws, screw the hard drive to the SATA card that fits inside the case, then slide it into the case and finally close the case and screw it shut. then you can search for the cable that you need to use to connect the case to the USB port on your computer. Or you can use one, all in one cable that attaches to the hard drive in seconds, then plug the other end into your computer. In my mind, Inateck is hands down way easier to use, and without the risk of losing screws in the process. Plus, swapping to another hard drive is just as fast as attaching the first one. With the other guys, it may take you 5 minutes or more to swap out a drive. One note, if the drive needs external power normally, it will still need external power, and this device is not made for that. This is for the drives that can function just fine using the power provided by a single cable. However, for my money, Inateck is always the best buy.

Convenient and quick way to access SATA drives externally
This USB 3.0 to SATA III converter is incredibly easy to use and very convenient for lifting data off of old hard drives. I happened to have an old SATA drive from my wife's laptop that failed recently, so I used that for testing. The converter comes in a plastic retail resalable packet, and is the lone item in the pack. The converter plugs in easily and snuggly into the SATA data and power connections simultaneously, meaning that you need no extra cables or power bricks that some other USB to SATA converters require, as it draws the power from the USB hub in the PC.Once I plugged in the drive, I connected it up to the PC and the external drive was detected immediately and drivers were automatically installed. I decided to run HDD benchmark software, but decided not to include the pictures as it doesn't do the converter justice. If anyone cares, this SATA drive achieved 50mbps read and 45mbps write, but this is purely a limitation of the drive (yes, it's an old Seagate, as you can see from the picture. Just SATA, not even SATAII!). It does go to show that the adaptor is completely backwards compatible. You don't need to have a SATAIII HDD to use it.This is a great piece of equipment to have around the house in case of emergency. This HDD has been sat on my monitor stand for around a year and I have now finally been able to pull old photos from it.This item was sent at a discounted rate in return for an honest and unbiased review.Thank you for reading! I hope you found this review helpful.

Nifty little adapter
This adapter saved all of my data from my crashed computer. A few weeks ago my laptop crashed due to a hardware issue and I could not turn it on at all. I took out the hard drive, connected it to my new computer using this adapter and, like magic, I had all of my data in-tact. Unfortunately, this adapter feels like fairly cheap and brittle plastic, but if you're not planning on using the device in extreme conditions, it shouldn't matter anyway. It's definitely worth the purchase!Something that I've learned from this whole experience is that you need a Mac to read the hard drive of another Mac, your Windows computer will not recognized and Mac formatted hard drive.

Rasperry Pi4 and RetroPi compatible
Works perfect on my Rasperry Pi4 for a SSD external drive on RetroPi. I also like the short cable. I tried another manufactors adapter cable it kinda worked 25% of the time. Needless to say use this with your RPI4. I did not test it for booting directly from the SSD as i only needed it for external storage.

DRIVE HEATS UP THEREBY REDUCING PERFORMANCE.
It fits well to my internal laptop drive but I observed that it heats up very quickly slowing down the performance of the drive.

Plug and Play - easy to use
I use this with some extra 2.5" SSDs I bought for cloning my OS drives. I've got 5 computers between my house, wife, son, and workshop and with this I can make backups anytime by just plugging and cloning. Speeds are great and most systems in my house only take 10-15 minutes tops to finish. For the price this device simply can't be beat

Nice adapter to recover data from failed laptop
Had a laptop that failed and decided to see if I could pull the hard drive and data myself. Extracted the drive, plugged into the adapter and was easily able to transfer data to another system. Worked like a champ. I was using the USB 3.0 port and transfer was good. Primary use was data recovery. Will keep in my set of tools for future use.

An easy way to access information on spare drives
An easy way to access information on spare drives. I have a Dell Ultra Small Form Factor PC so there's no room to add additional drives in the PC itself. With the HD Adapter it makes life much easier when the need arises to access or recover data from old drives. Only works with 2.5" HD/SSD drives.
