great for adding to soups

Once hydrated its like using fresh. Its what I hoped for as fresh leeks are very expensive these days.

These dried leeks are quite nice. They are a mixture of very small bits, and chopped and minced leeks. The taste is very pure, and these have a nice aroma.The leeks are very easy to use and can be added to rice before it is cooked in a rice cooker. I added extra water to the rice to assist in the maximum rehydration of the leeks. These are a nice price and simple to use. I recommend them for those times when one is lacking in fresh leeks.

Easy to use and very flavorful

i will buy more of these! nice to have on hand when i dont feel like dealing with fresh ones, flavor isnt as strong as fresh are of course, and i found it a little difficult to rehydrate them so i soaked them over night in whatever liquid i was cooking them or preparing them with like in brother over night for soup and dishes , and in mayo overnight for pasta dishes,overall worth having on hand

Quality

I use them in omelets. Fresh leeks always go bad before I use a whole stalk of them. This solves the problem. I am on my third jar of these.

Container is see through, shape condusive to space saving tight packing. I mark the lids with the maximum use by date. If a bunch get close, I donate to a pantry or soup kitchen. My batteries go to a shelter in time for Christmas toys use.Many stores now carry dried seasonings in bulk sizes, but not at this size or price. Demand may be inflating the price.Home Depot or Lowe's have 5 Gallon Paint Buckets and lids, but you will need Oxugen Obsorbers and mylar liner bags; then you can store most everything that is dry - including sugar, coffee, dry milk, cocoa, tea bags, flour. Baking Soda, Baking Powder & yeast if unopened, still should be in a short term box with your small spices, salt & pepper sets.With little warning our country shut down. I did not have a problem. That was a reason I had my Emergency Preperation Supplies. That and growing up on a farm, nature can erase a road to town for food, warmth, electricity. Any time of year, day or night.When I started, I used a "One Dollar" cardboard box. Every trip shopping, I brought home a $1 item for my box. The Budget Box has caught on with my neighbors who are also on tight bugets.Start off a friend or loved one with their own box and toss in a couple cans of something. They will know you really care.
