how to change battery and paper instructions with music box?

The battery compartment is at the bottom. Rotate in the opposite direction to remove the bottom metal base for easier replacement.

Can I turn Off the music and just have the Carousel rotate without music?

You can turn the light off but I don't think you can turn the music off. It's really pretty. I bought 2 for Christmas gifts.
