This book is a must for a new firearm owner or anyone considering purchasing a firearm.
Gun Safety is and should be the first thing on a firearm owners list. This book is a thorough review of firearm safety. I recommend everyone read this book from cover to cover no matter if you own a firearm, considering purchasing a firearm or have no knowledge about firearms. Even if you are not sure about firearms. I also recommend that everyone take a firearm safety course from a Certified NRA Instructor to get some hands-on instructions on firearm safety. Use this book as a reference but read it all the way through first. It not only handles firearm safety, but explains different types of firearms, ammunition, cleaning and storing, with very clear photographs all thorough the book. This book should be in everyone’s library.

NRA UNIVERSAL GUN SAFETY
Just received this book so not much info to give. It’s supposed to be a NEW book but the cover is ripped and crumpled and there are dirty fingerprints on some of the pages. The pages are kind of laminated and there are many good tutorial images.

Great book for beginners
After taking a gun safety class a while back, needed a book or something to help remember gun safety and taking care of firearms. Also a nice book to educate the anti gun/uninformed on how guns work. (Semi auto vs full auto, etc)

Proper etiquette. Safety in procedure.
Even for non gun owners, book certainly entails the proper etiquette. Can be useful when considering those who want to purchase guns, or those who already possess guns.

Good content, poor presentation--expected better from NRA
We bought this book as a primer for our kids to read as they get more interested in shooting sports and firearms usage. We plan to use the content of the book as a jumping-off point for further conversations about responsible firearms ownership/use.The Good: there is a breadth of content covered here, revolving around basic firearm types/styles, safe handling while shooting, and before/after shooting safety; the physical aspects of the book (cover, paper thickness, etc.) are good choices for the cost of the book--pages feel thicker than normal, and the binding has held up.Neither good or bad decision points: if you've ever been around firearms before, and you've got an understanding of basic firearm safety already, this book is NOT for you; if you're curious about firearms usage, and/or you have someone you're training in firearms safety (like a friend/parent/spouse/child/etc.), this might be a good book to help start that safety conversation. The bad: There are many, many, many poor and/or questionable formatting/organization/editing issues with this book. With regard to formatting, it looks like someone was trying to make too much content fit into too few pages, probably to keep from having to pay for an additional register to be included in the printed book. Margins are too small; places where you'd expect page breaks or empty pages to be (between chapters, for example), there are none; there's often insufficient differentiation between chapter titles, heading, and subheadings, so that it's hard to determine which sections go with which, and which ones are new information.I expected something better than this from the NRA.
