I d at any direct water would want the boards, however if you seal it before painting then sealed with enamel you should be fine. I hope that helps. Be careful of what types of paint you use, I.e. spray paint, water-based, that will have most of your concern with water damage.

Q: will these still work with fabric on them to make prettier?
