Very good cushion. I bought it for my 80 year old mom, who has just had hip replacement. I can attest to the quality of the cushion: the memory foam is a good density: it molds but it is quite firm. The two covers have very nice construction and look like they will last. I love the option of the straps to secure to the chair, especially the fact that if you decide not to use them, the straps can be removed and the buckles that remain attached are not cumbersome or awkward. It comes with a convenient carrier bag, which my mom loves, because the main purpose of the cushion for her is to take it with her wherever she goes for the comfort it provides, but mainly because it raises whatever chair she sits on to a height that is comfortable and appropriate to the restrictions of this early phase of recovery from hip surgery. The memory foam is firm enough to provide that elevation and soft enough to remain comfortable. I really like the cushion and now that my mom has been using it for two weeks, I can confirm she loves it, too.She takes it everywhere with her and has become a life saver. The one time she left it behind at home, she suffered. She couldn't sit because the chair was hard and low. She had to stand and walk around (which she can do very well, but it is naturally tiring) until she was done with her errand.She uses it on all sorts of chairs and sofas and found it comfortable on all. She never feels unsafe. The cushion doesn't slide when she sits or while she is sitting, even without securing it (which she doesn't do because she can't bend comfortably to pass the strap under the chairs.) She is very active, and as I said, the purpose is to take the cushion with her. If she needed it to stay on one chair, we would secure it for her. Although the fact that it doesn't shift around makes that unnecessary even in that case.She likes both covers, but has been using the blue (light, greyish blue) velvety one. It's soft and very nice to the touch, and doesn't make her hot at all. She hasn't had to wash the covers yet, but she will when the time comes. I'll update the review if they suffer after the wash in any way.She has nothing but great things to say about the cushion. Before this one, we tried all the cushions we had in the house and none felt comfortable enough: too high, too low, gets too flat, too soft, too lumpy. I did a lot of research looking for a good cushion, taking into consideration all her requests. The reviews led me to this one and it has proven excellent.I also liked the fact that I received an email from the manufacturers as soon as I placed the order asking if I was pleased. I explained that it was for my mom and I'd write a review once she gave me her opinion, though so far I had liked what I saw. They seemed truly interested in our satisfaction, which is why I'm writing this review. I arrived at this cushion because of reviews and I want to do my part. There may be other good cushions out there; I haven't tried them. I was drawn to this one and I don't need to keep looking. It's perfect.I must say that my dad tried it and found it a bit too firm. He is bonier than my mom -and hasn't had surgery nor does he require seats to be of a certain height, which justifies his preference for softer rather than firmer and therefore higher. Obviously, people have different needs and preferences. If you are looking for a cushion that is well made, pretty enough and nice to the touch, with the convenience of removable straps and a carrier bag, and a good quality memory foam that retains the height while making it soft enough for comfort, THIS IS THE RIGHT CUSHION.

I purchased this cushion in anticipation of a cross country trip on a United Airlines flight (as A-320 plane) that had their new seats installed. I knew from my last flight that these seats are VERY uncomfortable. (I have a bad back to begin with and they removed a lot of the padding in the seat and back of the seats. And they shortened the seat bottom so it doesn't extend far enough to support your thighs towards you knees. After two hours I literally had tears streaming down my face.)I wish I could report that this cushion solved the problem. But sadly it did not. Frankly, I doubt anything could.However, I have used it at work on the stools we sit on (which have a back but not great lumbar support) and it was/is wonderful! It provides extra cushioning and helps position you so the stress on my back was greatly reduced. For the two days I used it before my flight I was in heaven. I had no back pain radiating down my leg, which usually happens by early afternoon and I can't get comfortable, sitting or standing. Needless to say, I will be using this at work from here on!The foam is firm but soft. I hadn't thought about it when I ordered it but it will lift you up higher in your seat. For me that turns out to be a bonus because our work tables are so high it will put me at a better distance from the work surface.Also nice was how quickly I recieced it. And It comes in a carrying case w/ small handles, so it doesn't get dirty if you take it from place to placeI wish it could have saved me from the new United seats. Than again they never claimed it could work miracles.

I suffer with a damaged coccyx . After purchasing this unit a couple weeks ago, I did about 1,000 kms last week in the car. Previously that would have been quite painful but with this cushion I breezed through it. It certainly takes a little bit of getting used to but I wouldn't travel without it now. The car journey was immediately followed by a 12 hour flight in economy class, which would normally have been excruciating. Even worse than in the car. However, I am pleased to state that this cushion made it a completely different and more comfortable experience. I actually managed to get some sleep sitting on my @#se, and that is saying something. As with any cushion, eventually it gets uncomfortable to the buttocks but the important thing is that the coccyx remained painless.I can state that it does make a big difference in my situation. Without it I am in constant pain.

I gave this cushion a six week trial before writing this review. I wanted to be sure I gave it time to break in first. While this cushion is better than the thinly padded plastic chair seat, it is still very firm and not very comfortable for me. The increased elevation makes my legs uncomfortable after a while, I have started putting my feet up to help. I am six feet tall and my chair is set as low as it will go, so not much I can do there except request a new chair. I am not sure if the back is flattening out too much or if the front is not compressing enough. I did try flipping it around for a while and that helped but it still feels off because of the shape.The build quality seems good. It has allowed me to sit longer before I have to get up. I don't regret buying this as it is still a significant improvement over the unpadded chair.
