I did add a few pictures of the book to give you an idea of what it has inside. I didn't want to add a whole chapter to be fair to the author and give it a chance and buy the book. I am a beginner in art. I dont know how to draw or add depth,dimension etc...and this book gives you the definition of different techniques, talks about brushes, how to mix paints so we dont have to buy oranges and different of greens etc.., and just tells you what you will learn in a classroom if college is not what you want to attend and just be a self taught person. I read negative reviews and i dont agree with their opinions but i respect their opinion. It is a small book but it does have everything you need to learn how to paint. I do give this author Jerry Yarnell a 5 star rating

By far the most useful and helpful I have bought. * and unfortunately I have bought many )The color mixing guide is excellent .This is one of the most helpful books I've purchased so far, and I seriously recommend it

I like watching Jerry on PBS so I thought I would try out learning acrylics with this book. It has a lot of great info in it and will be useful . Im giving it 3 stars because it is a pared down size book measuring about 7 by 10. The small size makes it a little difficult to use while working. Jerry shows you all the right things to learn to paint such as how to block in shapes and the building up layers to make it look realistic.

Detail information and clear direction.

I’m an artist and this was very informative from th author who wrote it.
