Rebound Hoof Pack To Treat Sore, Inflamed and Infected Horse Hooves, Dark Brown

I am transitioning my guy to barefoot. His feet are tender (6 weeks). While he is in stall for a few hours, I clean his feet, then, make 2-fold square from heavy duty paper towel and under the square I put a cross of painter tape, put the goo on the square and then, put the square on the sole massaging it over to get all the nooks and crannies, secure with the painter's tape. It stays without problems in the stall and I find remnants of it after the turnout. My guy's hooves are getting better and he actually looks forward to me putting this on his soles because it brings him relief and makes his soles firmer and bruise-free.

Best part is there is no need to wrap a hoof wearing shoes. It does what it says and doesn't waste time about it. Our horse was better in one day and back to work the second day. From one who was trimmed really short and sore on all four and would hardly move to willing and able.

First of all, I loved it. I have used it on three horses -- one mare recovering from an abscess, one recently rescued mare with really badly neglected hooves and essentially no bars, and one gelding rescued some years ago who has chronic hoof issues. All three show an increase in elasticity of the hoof material and improved comfort. I will definitely be buying it again.I also gave some to my daughter to use with a gelding in her riding for the disabled program. His hoof quality has also improved. She also will be buying it again.Now the caveat. The company repeatedly says "no wrapping needed." All over the website, all over the container. But the truth is that you don't need to wrap ONLY IF 1) your horse is shod and 2) your horse is standing in a stall.Those of us whose horses go barefoot will have to wrap. If your horse is turned out -- EVEN IF WEARING SHOES -- you will have to wrap. You will find this information in the small print. I called the manufacturer and they confirmed -- the conditions under which you don't need to wrap are restricted to a horse standing in a stall in shoes.All of our horses are barefoot and out in the paddock 20 hours a day. We have a lot of rocks in our paddock, and wrapping with duct tape/vet wrap never lasts long, so initially I was disappointed and worried that Rebound might not work for me. But I tried it under Cavallo boots (which one mare uses when put to cart on asphalt roads) and it worked great. Used the Cavallos on the gelding as well, with great results. So then I invested in some Hoof Wraps Equine Hoof Bandages and used them on the rescue mare, and was thrilled with the result. The Hoof Wraps are under $20 each and can be reused many times. The Rebound washes off with water, so the wraps and boots clean up nicely. As the product recommends, I patted clean shavings onto the Rebound before applying the boots/wraps.Do keep the Rebound in a fairly warm place. Trying to use it on a cool morning proved to be a challenge, though not insurmountable.And if using the Hoof Wraps, stand your horse on level ground. Otherwise with the Rebound in place she'll slip right off the pads. Which is funny in retrospect but not so much at the time.Great stuff. I love it.

I liked the ease of using this product compared to wrapping with other products. Seemed to wrk great on abscess.
