Great so far
So I looked around for a good, reasonably priced dropper for a while, and finally found this PNW post. I looked at their website and liked their company philosophy. I work in a shop and get good discounts on gear like this, but I decided to order the Cascade anyway because I liked the company's ideals and it had the features I was looking for (cable-actuated, and actuated at the collar). As expected, the post was really meekly packaged, no extra fluff, but none needed in my opinion. As long as the post arrives in good condition, fine with me, and that was the case. This post is EXTREMELY easy to set up. I've set up many dropper posts as a mechanic, and some of them are real bears. This one ranks with the easiest of the easy. The cable is cut at the lever, you crimp on the provided cable tip, and it tucks nicely under the lever with a little clip that holds it in place. Very clean. The lever, which I realize is largely a personal preference thing, is very nice. It pushes downward and not in, so you can mount it either side easily. The noodle that attaches works well and the look is clean and it is easy to make adjustments. In use, the post is very smooth, with a rebound that is a relatively quick speed (probably a little faster than my KS Lev, but nowhere near the taint-destroying blast of a Command Post), and very smooth. I've used it on about a dozen rides so far and so far, it has performed perfectly every time, even coming through two nasty wrecks unscathed. If I experience any issues with the post in the future, I will certainly adjust and revisit/update my review. As it stands, I am extremely happy with my decision to purchase from PNW, and I hope that the post holds up to long term abuse. At this point, highly recommended.

A $200 dropper seat post that uses a string as the actuator. Beware!
I purchased this PNW Cascade seat dropper post for an urban bike. I figured I could get away with an inexpensive post because it would be seeing light duty. And it probably would have been great if I didn’t try to rotate the collar a few degrees for better cable routing.Long story short, when I rotated the collar it sheared the release actuator STRING! Yes, the internal post release actually uses a freaking nylon string. I couldn’t believe it. I guess that’s one of the reasons the price point is so low.I looked up PNW Components online to get a phone number to give them a call. No phone number listed. No telephone customer service. Next I looked for an email address. Yup, no email address listed. The only method of contact is a browser based form to fill out, which I did. Two times. Haven’t had a reply yet. Today I used the Amazon system to contact PNW. No reply yet.I’m mad at myself for damaging the post and not being able to return it. But even madder that anyone designs a mission critical component that uses a string. Oh, and by the way, replacing that string is extraordinarily difficult task.

Dropper was working great, comes up at a good speed and holds ...
Dropper was working great, comes up at a good speed and holds well. I probably use this 50 times a ride, after 8 mos, I noticed it wasnt holding as well and slowly dropped when I was riding. Contacted these guys and they are sending me a new one without question. Believe in the product and believe in the warranty. Cant be happier.

A solid, well-constructed seat post WITH 170 MM OF INFINITE TRAVEL! Buy it!
The post is excellent. 170 mm of infinite travel is huge - I am 5’10” tall and ride a large frame and the travel height is perfect for me - way better than the 100 mm post on my other bike. The paddle is easy to adjust on the fly and is solidly built. Great product, I highly recommend it.Problem: PNW has changed the design of the Cascade and (as of 9/2018) have not updated the installation video or the instructions included with the post so it will appear that you are missing one part for the paddle. I emailed their support staff and was redirected to the instructions for installing one of the higher-end posts. The installation was smooth after that. While the installation instruction change is inconvenient, the change in the mechanism seems to be worth it. The value and functionality of the product is unaffected by this issue in my estimation. In the end, this is a great deal on a super product.

Solid and well built, it feels like a premium dropper that will last
Great dropper, solid build, easy install and feel like a premium dropper. The only thing Is it is a little bit slow and takes good downforce to push it down. Sitting on it down is no problem, I think this has something to do with the sealed cartridge, and probably allows it to last for so long with out servicing.I think it is the best-built dropper for the cost, and looks awesome too! 10/10 would buy again.

So Far So Good
With some help from videos, installation was quick and easy - some initial confusion with an extra piece in the “small parts” envelope that turn out to be for internal routing (one kit, two types). No issues with a wet, muddy ride so, so far very happy.
