Feels harsh and a little fragile
I appreciate that this gives you quite a bit for the price (particularly compared to competitors) so to expect a high level of quality is not realistic. And it does indeed seem to do what it claims to do. However, I do wonder if too much has been traded away to keep the cost well below 100GBP.Firstly, it feels 'harsh'. Everything grates and the screech of metal against metal is heard for all moving parts (when attaching adapter to your camera, or when attaching the box to the adapter ring). It is functional, but not an entirely pleasant experience/sensation.The plastic filter tray catch also seems potentially weak to me, and I almost returned this immediately when it didn't seem to budge for me.It's a solid 3 out of 5 because it so far seems to be quite functional. But that tactile sensation that makes using so many other Smallrig product such a joy is sorely missing here.It seems that Tilta have the only other real contender to this product (though theirs might be more a competitor for the larger version that preceded this one). While that one lacks some of the features/aspects that the Smallrig one has, I'd be interested in knowing what it feels like to use.

it's good
for those using smaller mirrorless/ micro 4 /thirds, this is a great little matte box,,some top end matte boxes can cost thousands,,and considering they just keep out flares and hold filters that is ridiculous to pay that much (unless you are using super expensive rigs or hiring equipment, so this is great' does the job, holds multiple filters, even a round lens filter/ rectangle matte box mix,,easy straight forward set up/assembly,lightweight so dont really need a matte box rail support, it fits well on front just using my actual lens support rod as its so light, good deal.

Just for the way it makes your camera look, it's worth getting alone.Love how easy it is to use and attach, light weight and does not take up too much space in camera bag.i use it with my Sony A7s mark3, love it!

Amazing gear! Life changer!
I loved this Matte box from the first day! It is very small, very easy to attach, very lightweight, and solid. The best advantage is that you can use your VND filters! It does change everything to me! Recommend it 100x times!

Ensure you check what size lens you have, you can buy adapters.
As much as I wanna pretend I’m a camera guru, I am still learning. If you’re like me, then make sure to check your lens size that should be located on the ‘top’ beside the glass of the lens - for example 62 and a funny symbol. Also, you do not receive any filters, however that is probably apparent in the description.

Much better than a lens hood, take your photo/video to the next level
Smallrig is a brand I have used in the past and the build quality has always been great for the price. The same goes for this matte box which has been a welcome addition to my camera accessories. I have a Sony A7iii and mainly do photography but I dabble in video from time to time. The limitations when shooting in bright light such as a well-lit room or a warm summers day are reflections and stray light coming into the lens. Not keeping this under control can make it hard to properly expose the scene and in some cases even damage the sensor. A matte box alleviates that problem by protecting the lens and stopping unwanted light from appearing in your shots. Fitting to my sony a7iii was easy and quick. Once in place it is sturdy and works really well. I found it to be much more efficient at controlling light than a lens hood for such a compact matte box and another plus of this is it doesn't take up much room in your camera bag. I would say this is not 100% essential if you are a photographer/videographer, but there is a tool for every job and a solution to every problem. If you want the best possible shot and want to invest in yourself I would definitely recommend this and I am sure it will be a welcome addition to your camera accessories too.
