Drop a pod into 6 ounces of your purest water and have a fantastic cold brew hours later.
Couples and housemates don't always agree on what coffee characteristics they like. Why compromise-- individualize instead.I hate bitter coffee and easily get a yucky feeling (acid stomach?) when I have the majority of brands and roasts of coffeemaker drip coffee-- even light roast. I need milk or cream just to tolerate the bitterness and to have an OK stomach. But I do love coffee when I find the right one for me or when it's de-bittered with cream! My husband loves the bitterness of just about every coffee-- and he especially enjoys double espresso-- something I could never enjoy. So you see where I am going with the merits of making an individualized coffee.I saw on Dr. Oz 's show that many people find cold brew less bitter and easier on their stomach without needing a whitening agent of some sort. [BTW some "coffee creamers" have carrageenan-- an inflammatory ingredient that is used in arthritis drug studies to give lab mice arthritis symptoms in order to determine if the drug in questions helps relieve the inflammation and "paw" swelling.] Also, I believe studies have shown that when dairy products are combined with coffee, tea, or chocolate, they tamp down the available antioxidants in these other-wise highly rich-in-antioxident beverages, so plain "black" coffee seems to have a health advantage.I didn't want to invest in a cold brew machine nor what I thought would be messy cloth bag system for coffee grounds, and so I guessed that there would be no reason not to give Melitta pods a try. I'm so glad I did!I drank mine straight from the refrig. and loved it without sweetening of any sort... nor milk/cream/etc.!!! But I would imagine you could warm it up if you wanted to do so without changing the easy-on-the-stomach characteristics. It could not be more easy to make. I used a Mason Jar with ounce markings, poured in filtered water to the 6 oz. mark, and dropped in a pod. I closed the lid and a gave the jar a shake or two to totally wetten the pod. I put it the refrig for about 18 hours. I think everyone could play with the amount of water, the timing, and the roast (medium vs dark) and find their individual sweet spot.I can imagine also that you could make a concentrate with more pods to the same amount of water and then dilute it (say you want to take a small jar to work each day for multiple cups of coffee).Go for it!!! Have the coffee *you* enjoy that's easy on your stomach.

Great Substitute for Senseo Medium Roast
The Melitta Coffee Pods are a great substitute for the original Senseo pods, which became so expensive, if and when available. The coffee taste is pretty much the same, maybe a bit milder, which for me is a good thing. The packaging is the same as the Senseo, just with a different brand name. This is my first experience with the Melitta coffee and it is all positive. I will be happy to use these pods from now on, instead of paying almost 50% more for the Senseo. There is no difference in the quality, and the price is much better. The pods fit perfectly in the Senseo coffee maker.**** This is an update on the Colombian Roast. I purchased it about 3 weeks ago (02-2013), because the Medium Roast had gone up to $33, so I went with the cheaper version but still medium strength. I am disappointed. The taste is not smooth and silky; it is sharp and bitter. It needed A LOT of milk to smooth it up a little. The smell is not nice and flavourful. Definitely does not measure up to the medium roast, which I really like. Also, it is time this game with changing the prices all the time and cancelling the subscription options, and not carrying this size or that flavour to end. The coffee is good, the customers like it, why are those gimmicks going on for so long?

Just like I remembered ...
I've been using Melitta products for over 40 years starting with their cone coffee makers and their coffee. I kind of got away from it after trying new brands and switching over to a k-type machine. But I recently decided to go "smaller" -- and purchased a single-serve Hamilton pod coffee maker which takes up only a fraction of my previous coffee makers. And I saw this in the "purchased with ..." list and decided to try it again. It's just as good as I remember. The pods make it very convenient to brew a single cup (I live alone), and I believe they're more eco-friendly than the k-cups. The flavor is robust but not too strong in any one flavor note -- no "charred" taste, just nice smooth medium-roast flavor.I'll continue to purchase these pods as long as they're offered at a decent price. Very highly recommended.

Good, Medium Strength Pods
Good enough product, the taste is pretty good, not extraordinary. If you want a stronger cup of coffee, look for a darker roast, as this is more of a medium strength (though I always use the 2-cup brew cycle, and have never used the 1-cup, which would likely be stronger). The paper pods stay together, with no loss of coffee grounds to the cup. The purchase comes with six, sealed pouches in the box, so each pouch contains a manageable number of pods--no worry about the coffee going stale. These are so much cheaper than Keurig or Nepresso, I have no idea why so few coffee makers on the market can use them, especially since there is no plastic in these pods.

Great German Coffee
The reason I order Melitta coffee pods is because when I visited my aunt in Germany, this is what she served me (she used a stronger version, however, which I wasn't used to). I bought a Senseo coffee machine (through Amazon), just like my aunt uses, and I love this little coffee machine.I was impressed that the Melitta coffee pods are completely compostable! I was distressed to be throwing away those little plastic cups from the Keurig machine. Now, I just toss the Melitta coffee pods into my composting bin, and everything composts. The flavor is also delicious. I order the medium version, but I think I'm going to switch to the stronger version that my aunt served me. This is a really good buy!

Be careful what you buy
The quality has changed dramatically. Melitta pad now contain a lot of artificial additives and very little if any real coffee. Not only is the taste bad I wonder the impact on health. Melitta does not provide any information on the composition. Really bad.
