HID bulbs should be replaced every 5 years or less.
After 12 years on the original OSRAM Xenarc D1S bulbs, the Night Breakers were a welcome upgrade. HID bulbs do change colour and get dimmer over time, and it is recommended that these types of bulbs are changed every 3-5 years. So when I did get around the changing the bulbs I noticed that they were significantly brighter than the original bulbs and the colour shift meant I could see more detail on the road too. I should have upgraded sooner.I was able to check the serial numbers on the OSRAM website to verify they were genuine bulbs.

Similar to BMW F32 OEM Bulbs
Very easy to install and good brightness. However, not noticeably brighter (or more blue) than BMW F32 M Sport OEM bulbs. In any event - perfectly decent bulbs, brightness and colour.

Cool blue/white beam
Replaced my 6year old osram original bulbs with the cool blue intense gen 2 and difference was immediately obvious. So much easier to drive at night now. As you can see the light is quite noticably blue, it just needs to be run in for a few hours to reach the final colour. Note - Amazon says its not compatible with 520D F10, however it is. Great upgrade.

Good quality pair of bulbs
Decent replacement bulbs, similar colour temperature to the OEM bi-xenon bulbs fit to my old Audi. It was an absolute mission to fit them in this particular car but that is no reflection on the product itself. Given how difficult it is to access the light cluster to fit them, it’s definitely worth replacing the pair at the same time; if one has gone then the other one is likely to be near the end of its life too. These are pricey bulbs, but again, you don’t want to be repeating the job, so knowing the brand and seeing the decent light output, it’s worth the money, but this is ultimately why I took one star off the review.

An improvement on the first generation, but you need to let them burn in first!
When you first install them yes they do look yellow (as many people have commented), but they improve significantly after 15-20 hours of use. Sadly Osram do not state this on the packaging as far as I can see so the confusion isn’t surprising. I’d say they’re a definite improvement on the first generation and would recommend them, you just need to give them time to burn in.

Stay away 👎
These were so bad, not blue as advertised but yellow and damaged my cars lens. After I realized that brightness was poor and the yellow color instead of blue. I decided to give em another chance thought maybe it needs time but the bulbs damaged the lens and bulb compartment and melted down the plastic. Do not buy

Excellent
Doesn't appear blue at all, which is exactly what I wanted. A nice white light. I wouldn't say it's identical to LED (I have another LED-equipped car to compare against), but it is about as close as you can hope for from HID. I've read that they might change colour and turn a little whiter once burned in for a few hours - we will see. Very happy as is.
