The Prophet: The Spiritual Classic

Beautiful poetry; pleasing, perceptive and with some powerful and on point advice
I had not actually heard of this book prior to noticing it as part of the Tom Butler Bowden series, which I’ve found to be an excellent anthology of some of the very best works of philosophy and life guidance. On that basis I purchased a copy that was used but nearly new and I am so glad that I did. I can imagine coming back to read this again several times. It’s got so many observations that I am delighted to discover echo things I have come to believe through experience. I was thinking “I wish I had read this sooner”, but then again things tend to come to us as a blessing when we are ready to receive them as such; and knowing me I probably wouldn’t have been so willing to accept let alone have the experience to resonate with the wisdom in this wonderful work. Nonetheless I would recommend this work to everyone who has even a vague curiosity to experience how another relates his experience and understanding of the world. In my view we would all benefit by beginning again and now realising that each moment is a blessing and the moment I discovered this work was surely one.

Lovely for gifting but no illustrations
This is a book that I love and have gifted several times over the years. The trouble has been to find a copy that has no typos (like some on the Amazon site) and has a good print that is not to small or too big. This version is lovely to gift as it is bound nicely and is a hardback. I could not see any typos but I think it is unlikey that there will be any. It is disappointing that there are no illustrations, which in the original and several subsequent books, especially as they were done by the author himself.

Confusing at times, but with some viable answers
I first read this at university. It was one of those go-to books. I've just read it again, and I have to say I think an awful lot of it is bombastic and very self-conscious. This time around, I was not persuaded. But hey, horses for courses. You might want to give it a go and see what you think. Your opinion is just as valid as mine.

Edition: big text.
A great piece of literature which can be read at any time due to its easy language, and briefness.Regarding the edition, the text is rather big for my liking more suited for a child or someone with bad sighting. It does take a bit from the aesthetic feeling of it but once engaged with the text this becomes almost unimportant.
