Great story of love & friendship
If you have ever experienced the unconditional love of an animal or friend you will love this story! The main character tells the story of how those she loved, both human and non-human find their way through grief after her death. It also raises some very interesting questions about humanity’s sometimes not so humane treatment of those other living creatures we share our environment with. Bring the tissues!

You must read this book.
If you love animals: read this book. It’s such a lovingly drawn portrait of how animals make us more human. This book is about grief, and loss. It’s also about hope and joy. It touched my heart.

Unsaid is a unique and moving novel--a book that inspires and reminds us of the power of love and dedication.
GUESS WHAT THE AUTHOR IS COMING OUT WITH A NEW BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be released on May 10!!!!!!!!!! It's called "Just Life"http://www.amazon.com/Just-Life-Novel-Neil-Abramson/dp/1455591041?ie=UTF8&keywords=neil%20abramsnon&qid=1460056291&ref_=sr_1_sc_1&sr=8-1-spellI pre-ordered this book based upon the description and received it inexplicably before its release date. I read it in one day! I don't cry lightly. Any woman who works for me and comes into my office with tears in her eyes hears me quote a line from a Tom Hanks movie--"There is no crying in baseball--when you get a grip on yourself you can come back later!!", I read this book with my sunglasses on-- in order not to sully my tough, old broad reputation. In 1983 I was a law student, who came home directly from class, with no time to "hang out"--boo hoo-- and cared for her ill father, until her mother, who worked herself to death as a waitress, came home from work to 'relieve me" so I could study. Two days before my father suffered his fatal stroke, I was preparing my father's supper when I heard him addressing our family companion animal--a dog 'officially" named General Douglas MacArthur--we called him Mac. (Mac was a high strung, highly intelligent, loyal, heavy drinking--that story is for another time--, Irish-English setter mix.) My father, after cleaning Mac's allergic eyes, as my father did every time he cleaned his own eyes of the saw dust from his work, with his hand gently placed upon the dog's head said in a low, sorrowful tone, not meant for me to hear: "Mac, the more I get to know people--the more I appreciate you...."My father as a young child experienced extreme poverty, saw unjustified murder and discrimination in an occupied country, as a young man he experienced World War II, as a young husband he experienced extreme and costly family betrayal, as a young father he experienced the violent death of his young and beautiful child--despite this--and perhaps because of this-- he remained a steadfast, loyal husband, a dedicated father who lived only for his family and always worked for, hoped and wished the best for his family until the day he died. This moving and compelling book both validates and challenges my father's profound and deliberate statement to Mac, his animal companion in life and in death. (For weeks following my father's death, Mac sat beside my father's favorite chair patiently and futilely awaiting his return.)This book and its author clearly reminds you that if you have ever had the good fortune to have an animal companion you will have known the unconditional love and dedication they bestow upon you and because of that you owe your companion loyalty and protection. It makes you remember and focus upon their innocence and unquestioning dedication to you and the responsibility you owe them. This book also makes you focus on your relationships with the humans that love you. It compels you to connect and express your love. This book reveals the brutality and callousness of the ambitions of humans. But this book also gives hope that as a human we can change we do not have to continue to be what we are--we can be better. After reading this novel--I hope to become the human my dog believes me to be!--and the person my father meant me to be...

Book for Animal Lovers!!
To anybody interested in reading this novel, be forewarned: it is sad, it will undoubtedly pull at your heart strings, and you will not be able to put it down.I bought this book as a recommendation from a friend, and a fellow animal lover. The book starts by telling the story of one veterinarian, Helena, who becomes diagnosed with breast cancer but doesn't survive the disease. A majority of the plot is dedicated to life after her death: how her husband copes taking care of all their animals, being reintegrated to his job and recovering from Helena's absence, how Helena's business partner, Joshua, handles running their veterinary practice alone, as well as how a previous co-worker/lab researcher deals with trials and tribulations in her incredible research that Helena had witnessed.I loved getting the opportunity to read a book written from the perspective of the dead because it isn't too common (at least, not to me). You get to experience all of Helena's emotions and reactions to the experiences that occur without her there and how she gets to see people grow and move on in their lives, working through her death.Probably the only aspect of the book that tripped me up was the court case, and all the legal jargon. Throughout a majority of the primary court case, I didn't understand some of the technical legal terms the author opted to use, but just tried to flush out the main points of what was occurring. The primary debate in the book, that animals do have a language all their own - that you just have to listen and be open to understanding it, should speak to any animal lover whose had to interpret a cats cry, a dogs raised eyebrows or a horse's whinny. It gives you the opportunity to analyze the animals in your life and speculate about the numerous emotions, wants and needs they are trying to communicate on a daily basis.Definitely a worthwhile read for any animal lover out there. Personally, I am hoping this book gets it's chance to hit the big screen.

This book was so good. I don't think a book has actually made me cry for a long time. This one did. But so worth it!!
