Leroux Leroux Instant Plain Chicory, Plain, 100 Grams

I was afraid to order this product at first because every time I ordered something to replace coffee I was left disappointed. As someone who cannot have caffeine and lactose intolerant I figured i would never find anything comparable to coffee to have especially during the fall and winter months but I have found it!This taste great and is as close to coffee as I have personally found. I love it and it does not aggravate my stomach at all. I use nut pods French vanilla as a creamer with this and it is awesome. I highly recommended this product.

I purchased this because I'm currently on a diet that doesn't allow any caffeine, and as someone who's become accustomed to a daily cup of coffee in the morning, I was looking for another kind of morning pick-me-up. I started looking into chicory coffees as I'd read that they're a decent coffee substitute, and found this instant version that seemed easy and convenient.Since trying it, I'm sold! The flavor obviously isn't exactly like coffee, but it has that same dark taste, slightly bitter, almost a little sweet...it reminds me of some instant coffees I've tried before. I enjoy it, but then I'm not a die-hard coffee lover and I didn't drink it for the caffeine. I did get my die-hard coffee-loving bf to give this a try and was surprised when he pronounced it "pretty good."I originally bought just one bottle of this in order to tide me over during this month-long diet I'm doing, thinking I would switch back to coffee once I'm done. But now I'm back to get more because I managed to plow through it over the course of a couple weeks!

As a post-menopausal woman, I am taking the advice of many and giving up coffee for awhile. I was never that big of a drinker, but I like my cup in the morning. Tea just doesn't cut it for me. So, when I saw someone's suggestion on a forum to try chicory, I thought, why not. I made a cup, and then decided to write this review. I love it! To me, it has a better taste than coffee. It isn't bitter, and doesn't affect my stomach on the first sip like coffee did. I googled the health benefits of chicory, and it looks like it could help with a variety of things. I'm not too worried about that, though, as coffee has been praised, demonized, then praised again for health benefits. Who knows?! Right now, I'm giving up the caffeine, and this fits the bill very nicely. So happy!

Tried to find this Chicory in Kroger, but discontinued. Tried Walmart as they have a lot of "old school" product. Not there either! So, I tried Amazon. The only place I know off. This is the only chicory I've tasted and it is GREAT! If you can NOT drink coffee or you must avoid caffine, this is a GREAT altarnative. Treat it just like instand coffee with no brewing necessary. Adjust how strong to you taste, add creamer if you like and enjoy! I've found my coffee substitute!!!

Love this, and it's so much easier and quicker to prepare than the ones that require brewing. It's definitely helping me to break my coffee addiction because it's so tasty.Update 2/14/17:I've also tried Prewett's organic instant chicory, and the one that has the Russian letters on the label. I like the Prewett's slightly better, but that one takes longer to order, and this one I would rate as just slightly lower than Prewett's. I'm alternating drinking between the two, partly because they're almost the same in taste and price, and partly because this one is delivered faster than Prewett's.My recommendation: order whichever is cheaper, Leroux or Prewett's, but keep both on your list because the prices change :)

Will never buy from the seller again. Terribly overpriced. I saw a tiny icon when shopping and added to my cart. This turned out to be half the size. This jar is tiny and will never buy again.True it was my oversight however these sellers take advantage of people selling items overpriced items!PLEASE RESEARCH and you will find the jar twice as big for half less money. Just search online and you will find it.CANNOT RETURN THIS ITEM EITHER!

I ordered this instant chicory because I use it a lot when I am in France and surprisingly could not find any similar powder in the US. It's obviously a lot more expensive than in France and that is why I rated only 4 stars. Hopefully one day someone will produce it in this country or at least in Canada to avoid an importation fee.This said, I recommend it to anyone who never used chicory because it tastes like caramel and you can use it to nicely flavor a dessert like yogurt, cottage cheese, pudding etc... I take it also mixed with cold milk in my cereals. If you want to put it in warm milk, you will have to dilute it first in a couple of spoons of cold milk. Then it tastes wonderful ! For people who are in a sugar free diet, this is one of the best solution . It's slightly bitter but also very good for digestion, liver, gall bladder etc...

I like the taste of the product and would have given it 5 Stars for taste. However my second order of the bottle was totally broken and glass was mixed in with the product and totally unsafe to use. They won't replace it or let me return it which I'm very upset about. I was going to keep ordering but now I won't order again. This is why I lowered the score.
