Amazing mid tier speaker!!!
I will preface this review with the fact that I am not an audiophile, but I know what sounds good to my own ears. These Polk ES55's replaced a pair of BIC America 6.5 bookshelf speakers. Those, and a BIC America center channel speaker served me well for many many years in an 850ish square foot apartment, but once moving into a home, just did not have what I needed in terms of sound. These Polk's are in an approximately 14 x 20 ft room, and right out of the box I am in love!! I have them wired with a set of k4b Bi-Wire speaker cables, which are also amazing for the money. I am using these for a stereo set up only, mainly vinyl, with a Yamaha AS 501 integrated amplifier. They have exactly what I wanted, more bass, while maintaining the clarity that I love. Personally, I don't think an extra sub is necessary, They are perfect for what I need. I also have them right up against a wall due to space, and with the down firing port, they sound amazing. They also look amazing, I love the rounded tops, and they are beefy to boot, excellent construction. Find these on sale and they are well worth the money.

Great All Around Speaker
The Polk ES60 usually go on sale for $450 and when they do they are a great value for what you pay speaker. They are well balanced and I chose them because they are a balanced to be a great multi purpose speaker. I frequently watch movies, listen to music, and play video games and these speakers sound great.Don't expect the perfect speaker for a single task for this price point, but if you plan on doing a little bit of everything these will sound great.

An incredible value — but keep in mind you need two
It’s a little misleading to think you can simply purchase one speaker. Nevertheless, buying two is still an unbeatable value for the money. The ease of connectivity, installation, sound, everything is just what I was looking for. I’m thrilled with this purchase.

Polk Audio Tower Speaker ES50
Can produce some nice lows, but on the higher end, it's a little bright for my ears. Do sound good at higher volumes.

Don't need a subwoofer!
In my opinion the sound quality you get out of tower speakers are amazing. I purchased two for my audio setup and have no complaints. Using them with a Rockville wd70 tube amp, and Pioneer Plx-500 turntable. I'm no audiophile but sounds good to me! The Rockville amp allows for bass adjustments and I feel I don't think I need a subwoofer with these. Sounds that good!

Excellent Polk Audio speakers
I have been a fan of Polk Audio for decades, and have a pair of their bookshelf speakers from the 1980s that still sound amazing. So Polk was on my short list when looking for some new speakers for my home theater audio system. I had tiny Klipsch with a subwoofer, and it just wasn't great for our large room.I selected the ES60 towers, and frankly bought them without an audition, but took a chance based on the reviews of their Signature line, and the promise that the Elite Signature would be an improvement. I wasn't disappointed. The ES60s are very well balanced, with a clean top end that is very detailed. As I'm getting older, I've got that high frequency notch in my hearing, and while I want clarity in the highs, anything too bright is harsh and quickly tiring, which I felt the Klipsch were.I usually listen to the female voice when I test speakers, and Linda Ronstadt's Lush Life was my first test. It rendered her voice beautifully, and no chestiness or boominess in the mid range was apparent.I then pulled out an old DMP recording - Flim and the BB's Tunnel, which is an amazingly well-recorded CD. This is a challenging recording for a system that can't keep up with the dynamics, and the Polks (and my Denon receiver) did just great. Bass was extended without being over the top, and was very controlled. The sax is prominent on this album, and a good speaker will reveal the nice reediness and detail of the instrument, which was nice.Piano is another instrument that is revealing, and there was a warmth and clarity that was lovely. When a piano string is struck, you want to hear that attack, and it was perfect.Soundstage was very good, and fills the room very well. My furniture placement is a bit tricky, and I have several off-axis seating positions, and the wide dispersion of the ES60s allowed those spots to still have a balanced soundstage. All in all, I'm very pleased and these should serve me well for many years.

I absolutely LOVE these speakers
My entire home system is comprised of Polk Audio Signature Elite speakers (two floor ES60s, two bookshelf ES20s, and the center channel ES35). I bi-amped my ES60 speakers, which allowed me to send 150W to each of the two halves (woofer / low midrange) and (upper midrange / tweeter), and WOW! The bloom and brightness of these speakers are fantastic, and the lows are forward without being boomie nor muddy. Some folks suggest that these speakers are a bit power hungry, and perhaps I agree. However, when you "get on it" and push these speakers to the limit of your amp, they absolutely shine!
