Machine finally worth the investment for a home spot welder
Have been wanting a machine to be able to spot weld batteries since I have been salvaging 18650's and other cells from laptop and other batteries. Now that I have one that works well it is of great use to create battery packs. This product received only four stars because of hand full of reasons. First the tension/pressure screw on the top of the machine seems to be not working... maybe not working well?? I keep tightening the screw expecting the upward force necessary to perform the weld to increase... it does not, it doesn't seem to increase or even get tougher to press upwards.... My machine might be defective but I don't care 100% because the tension/pressure required is sufficient in my eyes, my guess is I will find out that this tension setter is defective on my unit. Second the nickel tabs provided are thin, pretty low grade and I would not depend on them for high current battery pack creation/usage... Third, the design of the plug on the back of this machine, wish it were an IEC removable connection. I have this unit on a shelf with limited space behind and would like to replace the connector with a angled IEC 1' cable, allowing me to push this machine flush against the wall with no gap for twisted up power cord. Lastly and the biggest issue in my mind. The directions/instructions for this product are severely lacking, The video only shows enough to make a spot weld, but does the 7 segment display show current being used? Does the knob set current? Which item is defining how long the spot weld is done for and which is for the amount of current being used?Overall I am thrilled I have this machine and a pleased to have it in my arsenal. I see many creative uses for battery packs I plan on making for "upgrades" and repairs/replacements I already have created, one for a Dremel tool and two for a cordless drill. You can't go wrong with an investment into this machine, I am sure glad I did.Happy zapping!

Not powerful enough to make reliable spot welds.
The battery spot welder arrived today, which was within the Amazon Prime timeline. I have only used it, so far, to test weld two different thicknesses of Nickel strips to some discarded batteries. Once I figured out how it functions everything went fine. The included pamphlet is very vague. I would think a company wanting to sell a product in the U.S., would invest in having someone write understandable literature. I only gave it four stars due to the poor documentation, and the fact that the advertised soldering iron was missing from the package. I really do not care about the soldering iron, because I have several, and soldering was not why I purchased a spot welder. I did not check the battery charger function, as I have no need for it.This welder is going to save me a ton of money on battery packs for power tools. Two of first battery packs in which I am going to replace the NiCd batteries will pay for this machine. If I had purchased them from the manufacturer, the two of them would pay for this welder. The battery packs are no longer available from the manufacturer (Sears). I can buy them used from several places, which I suspect are packs that have been rebuilt at a cost of $77.00 to $98.00.I am revising my previous review. I was really hopeful that this spot welder would save me money on replacing the batteries in battery packs that come with various battery powered devices with rechargeable batteries. However, I have found this spot welder is not powerful enough to make reliable welds. If you try giving multiple pulses it either pops the circuit breaker, or blows the internal fuse. I have had no success welding using any of the store bought nickel strips that are slightly thicker than the almost foil like ones that came with the machine. This would be a nice welder if it had a little more power. Even using the thinner strips provided, it is rare to get a spot weld that will hold under the slightest pull on the welded joint, if it sticks at all. Guess I will try solder.

Battery Making Wizard!
Throws my 20 AMP breaker only on startup. I seem to have better luck letting it charge up (as if it has an internal capacitor) before turning on. Once it's powered on, without throwing a breaker..you are good for the entire welding session. Or does not throw the breaker during welding use. Works really well. Happy with it. Don't use the charger, foot pedal, or meter. I just use it for the spot welding. The included nice tabs are too large for AA batteries. I bought the "orlov 100x Solder Tab for 14500 18650 Rechargeable Cell LiPo, NiCd and NiMh Battery Packs" and worked much better.

Does its job well.
If you're making Lithium-Ion battery packs, this thing is easy to figure out, even for a beginner, and does the job nicely. I like the included foot switch, so you can make sure you have a solid connection before triggering the pulse. It can work by simply pressing the battery against the spring-loaded terminal bar, too.If you're not making Lithium-Ion battery pack, you don't need one of these anyway.

Economy welder
It takes a while to learn how to set the controls, but overall I would recommend it.
